Ann Coulter: Obama Is Atheist, Not Muslim

Nearly one in five Americans think President Obama is a Muslim, according to a recent poll -- but conservative commentator Ann Coulter says instead that he is an atheist.

"The nonsense about President Obama being a Muslim has got to stop," Coulter wrote on the conservative website TownHall.com. "I rise to defend him from this absurd accusation by pointing out that he is obviously an atheist."

Coulter, known for her brash, often humor-tinged commentary, wrote that the "only evidence for Obama's Christianity is that he faithfully attended the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 years."

While 20 years of attendance at a church may seem like good evidence, Coulter ruthlessly slams Wright, reducing his sermons to "hate-filled demagoguery."

Coulter makes the case that questioning a public person's religion should not be out of bounds, pointing to Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, televangelists who were disgraced in a series of sex and money scandals, as examples of people practicing false Christianity.

"No sentient human is required to take Obama's profession of Christianity any more seriously than if it were coming from a 1980s blow-dried, money-grubbing televangelist with a mistress on the side," she wrote.

After making her case about the president, Coulter declares, "All liberals are atheists... There's only one true Christian liberal in the country and that's Mike Huckabee."

Wow, Ann, I love reading about you. I miss you. Sarah Palin is entertaining and you both are just as twisted, but you have that manic look in your eye that sends you over the top. Like a kangaroo on Ridelin.
Ann, first of all lets stop with this nonsense that it MATTERS what his religion is any more than it does what his favorite cereal is. Christians DO NOT get to dictate who runs this country. The entire history of Christianity suggests that when they do get power the killings start. Every time. Now you are peddling the nonsense that American was founded by Christians, FOR Christians. I dont seem to remember reading that anywhere in the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Indipence or ANY of the writings of the Foundiing Fathers. So where is it that you are getting the idea that elitist Christians have any more rights than any other religion in this country?
You are a perfect example of conservative, and in fact Christian tactics. You rewrite history, change your name when you maniacs you attract start killing each other (Fundamentalist to Evengelical, Republicans to Tea Party, are just two examples). The most recent favored son of your group was George W. Bush, who wrecked our economy, got us into two unwinnable wars (three if you count the "war on terrorism"), made shambles of civil rights and privacy and turned most of the world against us. And he was a great Christian. Ronald Reagan was the same way. Ruined the economy, launched several military adventures, invading at least two soveriegn nations (Panama and Granada), had several scandles (Iran Contra), and FUNDED and TRAINED the very terrorists who are now supposed to be attacking us. And he was the ultimate champion of conservative Christians everywhere.
Ann, I have a proposal. I have a website that is dedicated to free speech. It contains both a blog and radio station. I would love to start debating your position on ANY issue. But make sure to bring your SOLID FACTS, not a bunch of baseless, unfounded or supported by anything except your claims because I will certainly have mine.
Your position is so weak as to make some people want to have you either drug tested, psych tested or have your mouth duck taped. If you think you are right, and can back it up, debate me at ithinkrevolution.com
Or SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!

That's the smartest thing Coulter has ever said. You go Obama, I hope you ARE an atheist for the sake of the country. We have seen very well what Christian Republican values have done to the once great United States. Our country has been sold out to the richest Americans by mostly God-fearing Conservatives who have pretty much succeeded in creating the plutocracy we now live in.

Who gives a crap what she says... is she like a world expert on people and their associative religions. She's an idiot, and any intelligent person on the planet would ignore anything she says.

I certainly hope Obama is an atheist or agnostic..... I would not want to think that the president derives his moral values from fairly tales.

Yep. Obama has a choice to believe whether or not God exists. He's given us all a free will to believe or not. Then consequences.

doctor_know,

You do not know. There is absolutely no evidence for the christian myth (or any of the other religions). Show me one person who has suffered any consequences for not bowing down to your invisible friend. It frightens me that you would worship a being who you beleive would condemn otherwise good people to an eternity of suffering simply for not believing in his existence. Sounds more like a monster to me.

I read Ann Coulters article and it's obvious to the extreme she is trying rile up the small percentage of democrats who are atheist. At the same time she is confirming what most chrisitan fundamentalist already know and that is President Obama is not a christian.
