Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and Jordin Sparks of "American Idol" fame are among the co-chairs of a "National Youth Leadership Committee" honoring Ronald Reagan in conjunction with the former president's 100th birthday.

"Ronald Reagan is a personal hero of mine, I admire the way he stood up for causes he believed were right, no matter what," Jonas said in a quote posted to the website of the Ronald Reagan presidential foundation and library.

Jonas and Sparks are among the 35 young people who are on the committee, many of whom had not been born before Mr. Reagan left office in 1989. Also on the committee are athletes, beauty queens and students, all of whom are under 25 years old.

"Each of these young athletes, entertainers, and student leaders is inspired in a personal way by President Reagan's vision of freedom and the example of his leadership," according to the website. "Together they have earned 18 Olympic medals, 11 NCAA All-American selections, five NCAA Championships, two certified Platinum Records, and numerous other awards."

Jonas and Sparks told the Associated Press they became fans of Reagan by virtue of their parents' dinner conversations.

"My father and my family were supporters of Reagan," Jonas told the AP. "I'm proud to be a part of this. It's amazing."

The "centennial celebration" for what would have been Mr. Reagan's 100th birthday on Feb 6th - the former president died in 2004 - is a two-year affair overseen by the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission, an 11-person panel created by President Obama last year.

I love how saying "Reagan" in the company of vapid liberals immediately results in wild-eyed, spastic throat gurgling.

Reagan rocked. He defined the face of the Cold War and successfully exposed Communism as the utterly inhumane failure and travesty that it was. He broke the back of the nearly completely catastrophic economic and geopolitical mess left behind by Carter and made America desirable and successful again.

Ironically, it was not Clinton but rather 'Dubya' Bush that "undid" Reagan's executive economic policy.

Just another reason to hate the Jonas brothers, as if there weren't enough already.

These idiots don't know a damn thing about Reagan.
Those of us who lived through it, know just how bad Reagan's and Thatchers policies ended up damaging things in the long team

Funny how it has become newsworthy -- and even a bit shocking -- that a young person or entertainer would support Reagan.

Reagan was a doddering old fool who couldn't even stay awake during cabinet meetings... he accomplished nothing, except putting America in massive debt as all conservative governments seem to do
