Arizona Democrat Closes Office After Finding Bullet

Arizona Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva, a vocal opponent of his state's controversial immigration law, has closed his district office in Yuma after a bullet was discovered inside, the Hill reports.

In a statement, Grijalva's office said one of the office windows had been shattered.

"A shattered window and bullet inside the office were found earlier today. Police are investigating the incident and have not released details about a potential motive," his office said. "Rep. Grijalva intends to open the office again as soon as possible."

The bullet was found one day after a judge blocked the most controversial parts of the Arizona immigration law, which went into effect today. Opponents of the measure held protests in Phoenix in conjunction with the law going into effect.

As the Associated Press notes, Grijalva called for a boycott of his state after the immigration law passed. He rescinded that call after the judge's decision.

Following passage of the health care bill in March, lawmakers faced threats and had bricks thrown through office windows, among other violence.

At age 66, I had enough experience in VietNam and Somalia and from being an LEO for many years to realize that most of your information and wisdom comes from the end of a joint and the evil cool aid you choose to drink.

After living in South America, all over the US and in Europe with my parents, I was 19 BEFORE I EVEN knew about segregation. I NEVER once looked at my friends as black, white, tan, red, or yellow. And through the years, it has NOT mattered one whit to me. I deal with people as Dr. Marin Luther King said to do, I deal with them on the content of their CHARACTER, not their skin. As an adult, I was fortunate enough to nearly replicate the trail of travel I had as a child. The results were the same, even in areas where I stood out as a foreigner like in Japan, Thailand, Korea. Even In Europe, middle and South AmericaI was "still different" and had to what the "natives" did not. Every where I went were good, decent, hard working people. Most who admired my being from the USA and wished to immigrate.

My disadvantage was, as an "outsider" and unable to assimilate to an equal level. I was always treated with respect, but there was a point at which I could do no more. Laws of most host countries kept me from owning property or running a business. I had to account for my whereabouts and comings and goings. There were limits on where I could go, how long I could stay and what I could do. Not much different than what out immigration laws stipulate.

Ironically this IQ challenged AZ legislator didn't bother to do his homework before screaming for tourism boycotts. The tourism industry is the biggest employer of illegals. So essentially while calling for a boycott that failed (thank you American citizens bookings up 11% last month in AZ) it would have economically damaged illegals most. He is an embarrassment even to the Democratic party. Grijalva won't need the office much longer. In November bets are even his own people will remove him from office.
