Newt Gingrich: Obama Like a "Teenager with a Credit Card"

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich criticized President Obama this morning on NBC's "Today," likening the president's approach to the economy and unemployment to that of a "teenager with a credit card."

Gingrich issued the barb in response to Mr. Obama's comments yesterday criticizing Republicans for opposing a bill extending benefits for the unemployed. Gingrich said the bill would do little for job creation and complained its $33 billion price tag would simply add to an already inflated deficit.

"The second biggest concern of the American people after jobs is deficit spending," Gingrich said.

He added: "The president's very shallow politics [is] assuming the American people are dumb enough to follow the latest headline and don't realize the real problem with unemployment is, this is a job killing administration and a job killing Democratic Congress and that's why those people are unemployed."

Gingrich's harsh assessment of the administration will add to speculation that he may seek the Republican nomination in the 2012 presidential elections. Gingrich has already said that's he's "never been this serious" about a bid, though he made similar claims in the 2008 cycle and declined to run.

In the interview, Gingrich was asked how he would approach the deficit if he were elected president.

"I would start and I'd go through this budget pretty dramatically, and I would eliminate a great deal of federal bureaucracy," he said. "I would reform unemployment compensation. I would reform workman's comp at the state level. I would have a very pro jobs, very pro savings, very pro take-home pay policy."

He continued: "We proved with Reagan, with the three-year tax cuts in the 1980s, we proved again with the Contract with America, the first tax cut in 16 years that, in fact, job creating principles of cutting taxes are far better than job killing principles of big government and regulation."

ahh The myth of reagan he cut taxes and raised spending (see defense spending higher then next 15 countries put together)and then he destroyed the unions and pension funds deregulated the s&l's WE know how that turned out. trickle down or voodoo economics doesn't work,it does NOT creat jobs. Everytime the republican party repackages this CRAP and calls it something else we loose jobs and whittle away our tax base a little more.Something else for republican'ts reagan started the job exodus when in the mid eighties he set up meeting in alcopulco mexico for the corporations to tell them how they could move their companies overseas and get government help to do it REAGAN WAS AN IDIOT WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN PRISON FOR MAKING DEAL WITH IRAN DURING PRESIDENCIAL CAMPAIGN TO HOLD HOSTAGES UNTIL ELECTION

When Bush was in office with the credit card he reminded me of a male teen that could't decide which quad 4x4 he wanted so he charged them both, rode them, and recked them both. Bush then gave the quads and credit card to his younger brother Obama which had to use the card for repairs on the quads and they still aren't safe to ride.

So, politicians are cowards. Unable to do the right thing. And want to keep stealing from one American to "help" another. That is evil, and this government will fall because of it. This ponzi scheme cannot continue before it falls of its own weight.

NO American has a right to another American's property. I dont car if you have nothing...you do not have a RIGHT to your neighbor's property. You do not have a right to take it yourself, nor a right to have someone else take it for you.

Social Security, Medicare, et al are all unConstitutional and immoral. Why immoral? Because it allows one American to have its government take by force the property of another American and give it to them. Somehow, they feel "entitled" to someone else's stuff.

Sad really.
******************
By your logic, taxes are unconstitutional. The preamble to the constitution outlines its overarching principles, one of which is to "promote the general welfare". I think progressive taxation helps accomplish that. So do social security and medicare. It's not immoral to help out the less fortunate. In fact, it's very moral. If everybody only did what is in their own economic self-interest, we'd have a very ugly country. What property is being taken by the government and given to others? Money? That's simply taxation, and if you think that's unconstitutional or that everyone gets to choose specifically how that money is spent, that's an argument you will never win.

Has anyone pointed out that Ginrich is like an immoral lecher without scruples?

How anyone that served divorce papers, accompanied by a date, to his wife in the hospital after she had cancer surgery can throw stones at others is beyond me, it must be one of those nonexistent family values things that cons profess to believe.

So in other words he wants to do the same thing we had for 8 years under Bush. This is another one I'm really having trouble understanding which no GOP person can explain to me. If those monster tax cuts for the top 1% creates jobs where the hell are they? Those tax cuts are still in effect and have been since the start of the recession. And of course where are the actual things your going to cut. Notice the GOP can't seem to mention one specific thing in spending they will cut.
