Sheila Jackson Lee Catches Flack for Citing "Two Vietnams"

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat from Texas, raised some eyebrows yesterday with remarks she made referring to "two Vietnams."

"I stand here asking us to do what we did not in do in Vietnam, was to recognize the valiant and outstanding service of our men and women," Jackson Lee said on the House floor yesterday, "and to understand that victory had been achieved."

She continued, "Today, we have two Vietnams, side by side, North and South, exchanging and working. We may not agree with all that North Vietnam is doing, but they are living in peace. I would look for a better human rights record for North Vietnam, but they are living side by side."

Conservative bloggers like Meredith Jessup of Townhall.com lampooned Jackson Lee for her "plain idiotic" remarks. Blogger "Allahpundit" on Hot Air also burns the congresswoman, but he also points to congressional records from a decade earlier in which Jackson Lee proved to have a clear understanding of the history of the Vietnam war.

Nat Thomas, a spokesperson for Jackson Lee, said she clearly misspoke.

"No one would expect a member of her seniority to make that kind of statement and think it to be true," Thomas said, noting that Jackson Lee is a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Ms. Lee is flumoxingly stupid. However, blame it on the people who vote for her. I live in her district. It's embarrassing. Aside from her stupid Vietnam discussion and inability to distinguish the moon from Mars, she once entered a large assemblage in Houston and announced that it was nice to be in such a "carnivorous" hall. She couldn't pass third grade, even in the stupid government schools in her district.

This is the same moonbat who thought the Omaha Beach landing took place in Nebraska. Proves that Ivy League education is not so great after all. Amazing how she lauded Robert Byrd, a recruiter for the KKK who filibustered the Civil Rights Act, but is now rallying against the tea party. Gimme a break. I don't care about the color of your skin, I just care whether or not you have a functioning brain cell. You cannot fix stupid and you cannot polish poop.

This just goes to show you how incompetent many of these folks are who are holding high elected offices. If she is this out of touch I hope people in her district vote her out of office. And I am really getting tired of this excuse that they mis-spoke or made a mistake.

#1 I didn't know there were 2 Vietnams and I'll bet the people living in the South don't either; #2 I hadn't heard there was a victory or maybe that is another spin from this administration, #3 and finally from the VERY PROUD daughter of a CAREER ARMY helicopter pilot killed in "South" Vietnam in May 1968, lady you have no idea of what you are speaking about. While I agree w/free speech in this country, the way that the "people" of the 1960's were speaking in reference to Vietnam was not constructive but rather destructive. And unless you have been in my shoes, or the shoes of my sister and brothers, my mother, or my father's parents and brothers, or the shoes of anyone who has lost a family member to the horror of a conflict or war, you have no idea how we feel. I am to this day a proud AMERICAN and a very proud ARMY DAUGHTER!!!
