Palin Comes to Tea Party's Defense After NAACP Passes Racism Resolution

Sarah Palin AP

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin came to the defense of the Tea Party on Tuesday night, saying that the NAACP was wrong to pass a resolution condemning what it says are racist elements of the conservative movement.

"I am saddened by the NAACP's claim that patriotic Americans who stand up for the United States of America's Constitutional rights are somehow 'racists,'" Palin wrote in a Facebook note. "The charge that Tea Party Americans judge people by the color of their skin is false, appalling, and is a regressive and diversionary tactic to change the subject at hand."

Delegates at the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in Kansas City yesterday passed the resolution calling on the Tea Party to expel its racist elements, but the group will reportedly not release the final version of the resolution until its board passes it in October.

Palin, the former Republican vice presidential nominee who is now seen as a leader of the Tea Party movement, quoted conservative icon Ronald Reagan, who called America's past racism "a legacy of evil." She said that with the election of the first black president, the United States has become "a new 'post-racial' society."

"We, as a united people, applauded that sentiment. We were proud of that progress," Palin said. "That's why it is so sad to see that 18 months later, the NAACP is once again using the divisive language of the past to unfairly accuse the Tea Party movement of harboring 'racist elements.'"

She pointed to the candidacy of Tim Scott, an African-American Republican running for Congress in South Carolina, as "a sign of a hopeful, truly post-racial future for our country." In his own statement, Scott called the NAACP's resolution a "grave mistake."

The NAACP, meanwhile, posted pictures on its website of racist signs reportedly from Tea Party rallies.

WOW!! If this was Bush and something like this happen. What do you think would happen to group that did this? Those of you who think this was not racial need to check yourself and just say you don't like Obama or black people. Sarah needs to do one thing,"get that sh_t out of her mouth".If you don't like Obama there are two things you can do. Die or move out of the country. If there are black people in the Tea Party they are black thinking they are white. People who do that will know that they are black when the **** hits the fan ask Tiger Woods.I think he knows that he is a black man now for sure. This has neverrrrrr happened to any president ever in the history.Well I guess not because we never had a Black man in the house. Tea Party has shown the world who the really are,"___ members with a suit on".Time have changed but the game stay the same.I guess the black Tea party members need to called Black_____. You fill in the blanks. Wasn't racial have ya'll lost your mind.

I lost track of my birth certificate. However, I hold a valid passport. (I've had a valid passport since I was 22.) Yet, should I run for public office, particularly if I am a Republican, no one will ever ask me about my birth certificate?
The reason is simple. I am a white male.
The GOP is planning to impeach Obama because supposedly he has not displayed his birth certificate. (Even if he did, they'd claim it was a forgery.) Like me Obama does have a valid passport. In fact, when he was a young man he traveled abroad to countries like Pakistan, where a valid passport is required.
The brouhaha over Obama's birth certificate is proof in itself that the GOP and the Tea Party Movement are racist organizations. I am sure that when the GOP takes over Congress and begins Impeachment trials, they will celebrate by donning white sheets.

the tea party are a bunch of red necks mad because we have a black man in the white house. if they were doing this doing the last 8yrs i would have to say that they were just americans concerned about the country.but no soon as a black man gets in it's a big problem. what a bunch of dumb losers. they would be willing to let this country go to the pit of hell before they get behind a blackman what a shame.

Obviously Palin is just frightened of having a strong black man for president.. She feels intimidated by him and his overwhelming intelligence. Every thing she does is out of fear that the president is black. The Tea party members are all just cowering in total fear of the brilliance of our great black president. Every slightest notion that comes into their miniscule brains is tainted by the knowledge that they are inferior to the greatness of our black president. The republicans drop to their knees and beg forgiveness for just being a bunch of ignorant rednecks in the presence of such a fantastically mentally humongous individual as our black president!
