Sarah Palin Video Hails "Mom Awakening"

Sarah Palin's political action committee has released its first web video of the campaign season, entitled "Mama Grizzlies," capturing a theme the former Republican vice presidential candidate has embraced -- a rise in conservative feminism.

The video features a montage of appearances Palin has made since entering national politics, as well as images of her female supporters and conservative female activists. It is set against the narration of a speech Palin gave in Washington in May, in front of the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports anti-abortion rights female candidates.

"This year will be remembered as the year when common-sense conservative women get things done for our country," Palin is heard saying in the video. "All across this country, women are standing up and speaking out for common-sense solutions."

She goes on to say that conservative women are standing up against the current, "fundamental transformation of America."

"It seems like it's kind of a mom awakening in the last year and a half, where women are rising up and saying, 'No, we've had enough already,'" she says. "Because moms kinda just know when something's wrong. Here in Alaska, I always think of the mama grizzly bears that rise up on their hind legs when somebody's coming to attack their cubs, to do something adverse toward their cubs."

Palin has applied the term "mama grizzlies" to the conservative female candidates she has supported this election cycle. Today on her Facebook page, Palin announced her support for CeCe Heil, who is running in the Republican primary in Tennessee's 5th district to take on Democratic Rep. Jim Cooper.

"CeCe is another tough 'mama grizzly' with the experience, passion, and integrity to restore some common sense to Washington," Palin wrote.

Palin's polished new video encapsulates the brand of independent, feminist yet traditional, brand of conservatism Palin stands for and is pushing through 2010 candidates like Heil and South Carolina's Republican gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley.

While the video is about this November's elections, "it is hard to read this video as anything but a test of a much larger potential operation," writes CBS News chief political consultant, the Atlantic's Marc Ambinder. "Incidentally, for those who wonder about whether Palin is actually laying the groundwork for a 2012 run, like Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty, the answer is: it's hard to tell."

The conservatives would love more people of color to join and espouse their true views. The problem is that they have been told that conservatives are for whites only and they fall in line and do what they are told. Blacks and hispanics are more involved in their churches and consistently want safer neighborhoods and are anti abortion. Yet, they vote against these ideals because they have been told that Republicans are all racist white men. If any of them question the status quo they are vilified and ostracized. Both parties know that they will vote that way. Blacks especially vote nearly 100% devocrat. The only other people in the world like this are those who vote how they are told by dictatorships masquerading as democracies like Iraq used to be.

So, Usa_is_back,

Saying that parents should teach responsibility to 12 year olds is perverse? Asking people who advocate contraception and don't believe in abstinence if they "really give your 12 year old daughters condoms and tell them "go ahead but be safe"?" is perverse?

Just what exactly is it that I have said that you consider"perverse"?

Are you even capable of an adult conversation?

I haven't denied anything. I don't deny that I discussed the different ideas of how to approch kids about having safe sex adn abstinence. I don't have any idea at all what you think that I am denying.
12 is about the age of puberty among adolescents and is the age that they start thinking more about sex. the discussion centered around whether it made more sense to advise abstinence or contracetion and a lax attitude. What part of this do you find sexual? why can't you have an adult conversation on this topic without your mind going in the slimepit?

The GOP will soon be known as the Party of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs with Sarah "Snow White" Palin leading such GOP Dwarfs as Huckabee, Gingrich, Pawlenty, Thune, DeMint, Romney and Ron Paul. When Snow White leads, The Seven Dwarfs follow.

By the way if you are a Sarah Palin "Mama Bear" follower you might want to read (Wikipedia, etc) about the common names for male and female bears.

I still find it creepy that you can't have a discussion about abstinence and contraception at the age of puberty without getting some wierd sick vibe from it.

That's because medical science has proved that if you don't like to "do it" then there's something wrong with you.

If the republicans can show that illegal immigration hurts the poorest among our citizenry, Blacks and hispanics, they can turn the hispanic vote around. Hard to do when so much money is being funneled to La Raza and LULAC and such from drug interests. You didn't actually think that poor illegal immigrants funded all of this protest did you?

That is a very interesting strategy. It could be effective. It would be tough to get minorities to trust the Republicans, though. I think RECENT history has shown them that the current Republican party does not hold their interests to heart.

I don't know any recent history that you are speaking of.
illegal immigrants compete for jobs and housing with the poorest and most uneducated of our citizenry. These people are already having it tough. the illegals create more gangs and gang violence in these poor neighborhoods. The poor are the most affected by that violence. It can be said that there is nothing more harmful and insensitive to our poorest balck and hispanic citizenry than to support illegal immigration.

That is a good theory, but the fact of the matter is that the Republican's cozy relationship with big business and tax cuts for the rich have hurt the poor and lower middle class. That on top of opposing increases in minimum wage, and making outsourcing all too sensible for big businesses, makes for a toxic climate for minorities. Sure, Clinton signed NAFTA, which was a horrible mistake but the last Republic-heavy 40 years has lead to a situation where minorities are given less opportunity, and there are fewer jobs. Illegal immigration is a concern, but not to the level that it is exaggerated to. It is a hot-button issue that evokes emotional reactions. That's all.
