Sarah Palin to Rahm Emanuel: "U Lie"

AP

Sarah Palin didn't appreciate Rahm Emanuel's characterization of the Republican Party over the weekend and criticized the White House Chief of Staff on Twitter.

Palin tweeted, "RahmEmanuel=as shallow/narrowminded/political/irresponsible as they come,to falsely claim Barton's BP comment is 'GOP philosophy," adding, "Rahm, u lie."

Palin's comments came shortly after Emanuel said on ABC's This Week that Rep. Joe Barton's (R-Texas) apology to BP CEO Tony Hayward during his congressional hearing exposed a common Republican sentiment that the real victim in the Gulf oil spill is BP.

"That's not a political gaffe, those are prepared remarks," Emanuel told ABC. "That is a philosophy. That is an approach to what they see. They see the aggrieved party here as BP, not the fishermen."

He added, "In case you forgot what Republican governance is like, Joe Barton reminded you."

During the congressional hearing last Thursday, Barton made headlines when he called a White House meeting with BP officials and the $20 billion escrow fund set up for victims of the oil spill a "shakedown" and apologized to both Heyward and BP.

Barton rescinded the statement later that day after facing pressure from both Democrats and Republicans and the threat of losing his position on the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Palin wasn't the only one upset by Emanuel's comments. On CNN's State of the Union, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) called the chief of staff wrong and criticized the Democratic National Committee for running ads tying Barton's comments to the Republican Party. She called Barton's remarks inappropriate and said they should be overlooked for more important issues.

"Let's focus on providing what the people of the Gulf need, not pointing fingers back and forth and saying 'oh what you said is wrong,'" Murkowski said.

Larry, we probably agree on more things than we disagree. I expect nothing more than not all the facts from the majority of "news organizations" who look to put the most "sensational" news items (as put forth in press releases from either party)out to attract readers rather than presenting ALL the information and let readers draw their own conclusions. Of course you are going to have a spin on facts and what stories are covered - or not- by "news organizations" who feature Sarah Palin stories (and her every tweet and facebook blast)in the politics section rather than the entertainment section. And i am especially disappointed in "news" organizations that feature her as a guest speaker on their show like she actually has anything of depth to say (beyond the really getting old attacks on Obama)

I have to laugh Palin is the liar she and her type corrupt and are OWNED by the oil and gas barons... At the US consumption rate the entire proven reserves would last 1 year at best, what is the big hurry to deplete all of the U.S. reserves?, including dumping 1% of them in the ocean so far just so oil barons who pay little in royalties to the real owners of these reserves (the us citizens) can pad their own pockets and cause environmental catastrophes?

clvrgirl- The point I was trying to make is that all this time and space is wasted on ripping Palin, when there are much more serious matter at hand. This is just typical liberalism at it's best. Keep up a constant attack on the enemy (Palin) in the hopes it will deflect FACTS coming out of a trial which show once again that Obama and Emanuel's favorite game is how to circumnavigate the democratic process and influence congressional seats.

Palin has NEVER done anything like that. I'm just trying to point out how petty and foolish the Palin bashing is in comparison to what Emanuel has done. ANOTHER hidden fact is that Emanuel and Obama wanted Valerie Jarret to get his seat. That's right, the same Valerie Jarret who stated for the cameras that illegal immigrants should have the same workplace rights as American citizens. Anyone who agrees with THAT policy is a MORON! Yet, the Palin attacks continue. Pathetic, but I guess that is what the left is all about!

I believe Larry, coverage of the Blago trial would be considered a completely different article. This article is about Palin's tweeter re: Emmanuels remark re: Barton's apology. Perhaps there is another board that blends ALL the topics together so everyone can make snarky soundbytes like our entertainment heros! yay! p.s. most politicians have their hands in the cookie jar - conservatives, republicans.

Typical. The venom for Palin spews forth while you liberals say NOTHING about your guy trying working with Chicago's biggest crook on a deal to fill Obama's seat. Lot's of interesting stuff coming out of the Blago trial. The media can only protect your side for so long before it finally comes out.

Emanuel is already preparing to run as far away as he can. His aides are looking for other work which is a sure sign of QUITTING. Obama and Emanuel got caught with their hand in that great big Chicago cookie jar. Big rumor this morning is judge will force Emanuel to talk and that ain't good for you liberals............

Coverage of Palin in politics is like interviewing Kate Gosselin for an article in the business section.

I don't understand why coverage of Palin is placed in the Politics Section. Until she is subjected to the same heat that others in the political are subjected to (e.g. indepth questioning and expectations for reasonable solutions), her twit and tweeter coverage should be appropriately placed in the Entertainment Section by responsible NEWS organizations.
