Sarah Palin Compares Hacking Case to Watergate

Sarah Palin AP

Former Tennessee college student David Kernell was found guilty today of hacking into Sarah Palin's e-mail account during her 2008 campaign for the vice presidency.

In a Facebook note today, Palin said the incident raised concerns about "the integrity of our country's political elections." She compared the hacking case to one of the United States' most notorious political scandals: Watergate.

"America's elections depend upon fair competition. Violating the law, or simply invading someone's privacy for political gain, has long been repugnant to Americans' sense of fair play," Palin wrote. "As Watergate taught us, we rightfully reject illegally breaking into candidates' private communications for political intrigue in an attempt to derail an election."

As a college student, Kernell gained access to Palin's e-mail account by correctly providing her birth date and ZIP code and correctly answering that she met her husband in Wasilla, Alaska.

He was found guilty of obstruction of justice, which carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence, and unauthorized access to a computer, which carries a maximum one-year sentence.

Boy, those sure are difficult Q&A's! It's no wonder she was had. Hackers would have more difficulty hacking into KFC in finding out what the Colonel puts in the recipe than getting into her email account. Watching any of her interviews, you could probably sum up any other simple pswds to the simple security questions those email providers asks. I suggest using the one where you get to ask your own question to your own answer.

Sarah Palin is a joke, completely clueless. What scares me is how many people think she's the real deal. But, hopefully the more she opens her mouth, the more her 'fans' will come to realize she's better fit for a reality show rather than politics. If she seriously becomes a potential presidential candidate in 2010, I will have lost all confidence in the intelligence of the American people. 'Drill Baby Drill'??? I wonder how welcome she'd be in Louisiana right about now. Thanks John McCain, for introducing us to a class A Bimbo!!

How dare she compare Watergate...with all it's complexity, all it's lawlessness by multiple persons, and with it's much greater misdeeds and attempted ultimate goals, with a relatively simple act of e-mail hacking by a lone person?!

Leave it to her to not even BEGIN to understand the difference!

She's a typical Republican! I wish she'd just take all the money
she's managed to con out of the public and retire to Wasila!

Because all she's doing is hurting and running down America!

is palin retarded? yes, it's just like watergate, except that it's entirely different. this email prank is of no consequence to the nation or its people and shouldn't even be getting media attention at all. otherwise, it's exactly like an incident that deservedly brought down an entire government.
palin never fails to grossly overstate her level of importance, and that's a very dangerous character flaw for someone who aspires to positions of great power.
