Obama Again Hits Arizona Immigration Bill

President Obama said at an Iowa town hall meeting today that the controversial immigration legislation signed into law Friday could lead to racial profiling.

"You know, you can try to make it really tough on people who look like they, quote, might be illegal immigrants," he said.

The president added that a Hispanic American whose family had been in the United States for generations faced a situation in which "now suddenly if you don't have your papers and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you can be harassed, that's something that could potentially happen."

"That's not the right way to go," the president said, calling the law "poorly conceived." 

The president had previously criticized the law as "misguided."

At the town hall meeting, Mr. Obama said that Republicans must join Democrats in working to pass comprehensive immigration reform. He said the fact that the issue was so fraught meant that a bipartisan approach was essential.

"The only way it's going to happen if Democrats and Republicans come together and do this because this is such a volatile issue," he said. "I will bring the majority of Democrats to the table, but we have to have help from the other side."

Republican Jeb Bush, who supports reform at the national level, became the first from his party to speak out against the Arizona law Tuesday. In an interview with Politico, the former Florida governor said the state has the wrong approach.

"It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well," he said in the interview.

He said his administration had already made progress on securing the borders and that more should be done, and that that there should be more punishment for employers who hire illegal workers.

The president added that he supported a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants, but that they should be made to learn English, pay a fine and "get in the back of the line" when it comes to attaining legal status. 

The Arizona law, which would go into effect in July, includes in its provisions a requirement for law enforcement officers to question a person about his or her immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion" that person may be illegally in the country.

Attorney General Eric Holder indicated today that he believes "the law is an unfortunate one that will be subject to potential abuse" and said that the Justice Department is "considering a court challenge."

Obama is a liar and master of deceive, he have the resources to continue the support of the Bush administration invasion to Afghanistan and Iraq, that at the end, we will not accomplish anything. But he refused to secure our Mexican border that is complete open for the drug cartels, human smugglers and the million of illegal aliens that enter the USA every year.
He said that the border is better secure that in the last 20 year; I live in Del Rio Texas for many years I have to sale my home, because my family was not secure, I sold my home for half of its value, because this invasion of Mexicans, and the border patrol was not able to do their job.
Like me, we have in the border many American citizens that want our border secure; I do not buy the Obama's explanation for not enforcing our laws; Obama is a liar and a master of deceive.

Plenty of people are finding fault with the Arizona law SB1070 signed by Gov. Jan Brewer,(1) but evidently they haven't considered, or are trying to hide the fact that the Federal law ICE287 is essentially the same law.(2)
There needs to be no question why the ACLU, and other entities have been protesting SB1070, because they also protested the federal ICE 287 program.(3)

When Senor Wences, Felipe Calderon, from Mexico criticizes Arizona's law, something is blatantly wrong. How can Mexico's President, who enforces harsh immigration law/s, and knows little about Arizona's problems be given creditability?(4)

When Eric Holder calls SB1070 possibly unconstitutional, without reading the law, something is blatantly wrong.(5)

If people did read the bill they would find racial profiling is specifically addressed, and prohibited.
Why is it OK for a fed program to crack down on illegals, but if Arizona wants to enforce the same rules, Arizona is racist?

As Governor Brewer has said ?I just keep questioning the fact of the continuation of misleading, I believe, the American public on the facts.... I have repeatedly, sent letters to the administration and to the president of the United States with absolutely no response... A nation without borders is like a house without walls. It collapses. If Obama and the Democratic controlled Congress strongly enforced our laws, Arizona and states across the country would not have to do this, and it would open up 7 million much-needed jobs!

Just by:

1-adding the remaining photos to E-Verify, with technology today that could happen in short-order!
2-mandating employment verification for all jobs started after the I-9 implementation, and enforcing a mandatory jail time of at least 10 years for not having their Confirmation, that goes for the employers and illegals!!

If truth be told, this law is not just for Mexicans, but for anyone who is found to be here illegally. Americans are going to be forced by Obummer to "show their papers" every year at tax time to prove we have health insurance, but it's unfair for immigrants to have to follow the law and show theirs? No, that federal law has been in effect for over 70 years now. The federal law says that an immigrant must carry his papers with him throughout the process of citizenship, this law is nothing new! The fact is, the federal government isn't doing it's job. According the 10th amendment, powers not delegated to the federal government belong to the states or to the people." Jan Brewer knows this.

Well, I think EVERYONE, regardless of whether one looks foreign, talks with a foregin accent, or, looks American, and/or speaks with an American accent should carry citizen documentation at all times. If we only require this of those who "look and sound foreign", it comes off as racism and racial profiling. Also, because the most targeted will be Mexicans, police should ride around in pairs, specifically, 1 Mexican-American, and 1 other ethnicity, to ensure that Hispanics are treated fairly in this screening process.
Finally, we DESPERATELY need Immigration Reform!!! Why do successive governments always put this vital issue on the back-burner??!! Why are they so 'chicken' about doing this job? You here many people make reference that the Feds are the ones that have the say on Immigration issues. In a way they are right , but the Federal laws apply to legal immigration laws, quotas, which countries get allowances, etc. The FEDERAL LAW DOES NOT HAVE MUCH SAY WHEN IT COMES TO VIOLATIONS OF STATE LAWS REGARDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, PEOPLE THAT ARE IN THE SAID STATE ILLEGALY IN WHICH IT IS DEEMED A VIOLATION OF STATE LAW. Yet Obama continues to attack States rights, when he himself is in NON COMPLIANCE BY NOT FOLLOWING FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS.
