Army Birther Terry Lakin Faces Court Martial

Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, an army doctor, is facing a court martial for refusing to go to Afghanistan because he has not seen a copy of the president's birth certificate.

Lakin is a "birther," a group that does not believe that President Obama was born in the United States despite extensive evidence to the contrary. He said he considers any orders from the president, who is the military's commander in chief, to be "illegal."

Lakin did not report to Fort Campbell, Ky., this week for deployment, opting instead to go to the Pentagon, where, as MSNBC reports, he was informed by his brigade commander, Col. Gordon Roberts, that he would face court martial. His was also stripped of a pass to enter the Pentagon and a government laptop computer.

In a video posted to YouTube last month, Lakin said, "I believe all servicemen and women, and the American people, deserve the truth about President Obama's constitutional eligibility to the office of the presidency and the commander in chief." He promised to "disobey" orders to deploy and acknowledge he was "inviting" court martial.

"The minimal invasion to any politician's privacy from having to show an original, signed birth certificate is far less than the harms to our country by someone not qualified whose election would thus subvert the law and the truth," he said.

During the presidential campaign, the Obama team posted the president's Certification of Live Birth. Hawaiian state law prohibits the release of the original birth certificate outside of specific extenuating circumstances, and the state considers the Certificate of Live Birth to be the birth certificate.

The director of the Hawaii State Department of Health says she has seen and verifies the original birth certificate. In addition, records show that Mr. Obama's 1961 birth announcement was printed in two Hawaii newspapers.

Lakin is an 18-year veteran and Bronze Star Medal recipient, the New York Daily News reports.

According to Politico, he is being assigned to duty at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington while he is investigated for violating the Uniformed Code of Military Justice by missing the movement of a unit and violating an order.

On July 28, 2009, Hawaii Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino issued a statement saying, "I ... have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen."[71] On July 27, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.Res. 593, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Hawaii's statehood, including the text, "Whereas the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961."[72] The vote passed 378-0.[73]

Ummm Hellooooo, he disobeyed a direct order from a USURPER, which is his DUTY and what he should be doing, per his oath to uphold the Constitution. You people that think that Obama is legit because he won the majority vote, no matter his allegiance, have no clue about how this country came out and how different we are because we have INDIVIDUAL rights, which no other nation has and how we will ONLY survive if the children of the CITIZENS aka "Natural Born Citizens" are akkowed to accend to the Presidency, not British subjects!

To all you people who hate Obama and will do and say anything to get him out of office and delegitimize his presidency. He will be president till at least Jan 21 2013 and if re elected Jan 21 2017. Just deal with it. Get on with your lives. You don't like his policies? Fine, Do everything you can, within the law to stop them. But stop with all the BS. Its making you look petty and stupid.

WOW, it's about damn time! CBS reporting on the Lakin trial, what gives? Is the kool-aid starting to wear off? Are they aware that this happened almost 2 months ago? I guess they gotta jump on the bandwagon because they see that we aren't stopping and they dont' want to be accomplices...

Polygal, while I agree with your sentiment and principles, there are a couple of errors in your post. There have been no birther cases that have reached the Supreme Court; none were even considered for being granted a writ of certiorari. Unfortunately, Ms Birther Lawyer, Dr Orly Taitz, also has not been disbarred. I just checked with the California Bar's web page and she is still in good standing. Col Lakin should have thought long and hard before setting himself up as the poster boy for the Birthers. At the very least, he should have thought about his wife and kids. He was a fool and now his whole family will pay. I wonder if the Birthers plan to support his wife and family for life. Doubt it, they probably don't care that much about their fantasy.

That's because the judges were either paid off or they were appointed by Obama. It's just obsurd that a case at the Supreme Court, which is deciding to take a case on whether Obama is legitimate or not, allows two people appointed by him, to vote on whether to allow the case to go forward. If they found him NOT legit, those two judges would be void. So they should not be allowed to decide on whether to take the case or not. If they are recused, the case would GO TO TRIAL, because THEY are the ones holding it back and of course, the PAID OFF ONE!

It is sad that this soldier listened to the lies the birthers fed him. He has lost his career, his pension, and has been courtmartialed. Orly Taitz, the birther's leader, has been fined 20 grand and been disbarred. The most recent supreme court case filed by birthers has been thrown out for lack of merit. The only way the birthers will have a case is to prove that the Hawaiian state records office, the department of Health officials, and the republican governor of Hawaii are lying about the birth certificate. They have no evidence and no expert witness to refute the experts from Hawaii. According to our constitution, the states have the sole responsibility of determining what kind of birth certificate they will release. According to birthers, everyone in Hawaii is suspect, since everyone in Hawaii gets the certificate of live birth, accepted by every government entity. Ridiculous and a waste of time. They have absolutely no credibile evidence whatsoever, and until they do, this is going nowhere.

NO, what is SAD, is that the left wing fringe wannabe attorneys, who work for BoBo were able to infiltrate and set Lakin up with an attorney that defends terrorists. Lakin's attorney's partner, actually has a comment on his facebook page saying that Israel should be wiped off the map. Lakin was pushed into taking Puckett for an attorney and it was all arranged by Obama. I have a video coming out shortly which will show how all this came about. Bookmark this channel and check back for it to show up in the next day or two. Plus, there is all kinds of proof on Obama's ineligibility on this channel. I dare you to OPEN YOUR MIND and look:

Colonel I wish you the best of luck in the pending court martial. As you know during the time of war men were shot in the field for disobeying an order given by a surperior officer. Do, you believe you and that person from Alaska should try to create conflict in these United States.
Trying looking over your family tree, find out how you arrived in this country what it allow you to do, your children and future members of family. Look what the fools are trying to do. You will fail, they will fail. There are powers greater than the group you represent. Why did you not speak up under the former President? Perhaps Missing in action comes to mind. It's about time that this disgrace to the uniform was brought to justice. As members of the armed forces we don't get to pick and choose the orders that we obey unless the order itself is patently illegal. We don't get to decide if the person issuing the order has the "right" to issue it. If you disobey a lawful order you are subject to punishment under the UCMJ.

I highly doubt that his deployment orders were signed by the President, so this disgrace of an officer does not even get to raise that as a defense and the judge has rightfully stripped him of the ability to raise that as a defense. This guy is a moron and deserves to do significant time at Leavenworth for his crime.

Well it's about DARN time you report on this. Perhaps if you would have reported on the Obama Eligibility "EARLIER", the rest of the country could have KNOWN about it. The main stream media is an accomplice to this fraud that's being committed. Are you aware of how many people KNOW, what is going on and how the media is covering up the truth? It's funny how all of a sudden, the media want to talk about the Lakin trial. I guess that's because they NEED to cover themselves, JUST IN CASE Obama gets exposed and it HAS to come out, when he's thrown out of office.

He has no defense. He disobeyed a direct order. Why do you people want to weaken our military like this. You want to encourage all of our soldiers to disobey orders? You want to help our enemies? Sounds like treason to me. Is Terry lakin another Tokyo Rose? And no. Not everyone knows Obama is ineligible. Most know he is eligible.
