Former Alaska governor has earned roughly $12 million since stepping down from her job as Alaska governor at the end of July, according to a "conservative estimate" on the part of ABC News.

Palin had been making $125,000 per year as Alaska's governor.

The controversial 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee was reportedly paid $7 million for her book "Going Rogue," mostly after she stepped down. She is said to be getting $250,000 per episode for her television series on the Learning Channel and charge up to $100,000 deliver a speech, which she does regularly.

ABC News writes that Palin's earnings are "probably much higher" than $12 million since she left the governorship, "but is hard to quantify because Palin does not publicize her earnings." She has not disclosed what she is being paid by Fox News to serve as a contributor or her earnings from her planned second book.

Asked about Palin's earnings, an aide told ABC News that she "is now a private citizen. As a result, her fees and earnings are private."

Palin's contract for a June speech at California State University, found in a campus trash bin by students, dictates that she gets "first-class airfare for two and three rooms at a luxury hotel" for a speech in June, according to the Associated Press; her lectern must also be stocked with water bottles and bendable straws.

Congrats to CBS. I created an account just to reply to you. What an idiot. All of a sudden, speaking out against a president is against the law punishable by jail time. Things have been said 10x worse against previous presidents by liberals and NOTHING. Violence from the left is ignored. Protests from the right are amplified.

Bill Clinton is worth 100 times that much and he sold out our economy and military technology to China. None of you good liberals seem to care about that treason.

And for a party that is suppose to be for the blue collar worker, Clinton sure did screw that one up with NAFTA. Which opened the doors (via-Commerce department) to go to China.

I just saw your brilliant comment, and let me point out that NAFTA was drafted and signed by George Bush in 1992. Clinton had to ratify it into law, however, he added clauses to protect the workers. I'm sure many more high powered Republican, such as the signatory George Bush, have sold out America. Get your facts straight

Sarah Palin better hurry and get the money while she can. Her 15 minutes of fame is going to be up soon. Her rhetoric is great for the American media. It sells, books, newspapers and even television shows. I seriously doubt if she will be a viable opponent in 2012. Her "entourage" of bigoted, racists followers(Tea Party Members) will soon see this wolf in sheep's clothing for what she really is and I can't wait!!!

Dion, again pushing the failed false narrative that Tea Party people are racist. The only racists are those left over southern democrats and their followers that run the plantation style Progressive caucus, forcing the poor into welfare rolls instead of getting out of their way and letting them taste success.

i really cannot understand how people don't get the logic of Palin's move by leaving office in Alaska. I mean put your political views aside and look at it as if you were in her shoes. Your a conservative in a state rife with corruption on both sides.. your trying to do the right thing for your state and actually getting things done while being popular iwth the people and then your suddenly on the national stage in a CLEARLY preordained election in which every media outlet praises your opponent.. and in true form of your advesaries you and your family are run through the mud nationaly, your made fun of and to top it all off you have people filing frivolous lawsuits that you have to pay out of your own pocket ( at the time 500K ) to defend. seriously are you going to stay in that environment when you don't have to??? really are you??? i wouldn't... then add in the book deals and speeches of which you get PAID for and do what EVERYONE OF YOU WOULD DO IN HER SHOES.... write the book do the speeches and make a lot of money doing it.. doesn't sound like she is stupid to me.. read her book.. it will really open your eyes to who she is.. Just like Obama's books really show who he is.. no one but Bret Bair has asked Obama any real questions.. they just lob limp wristed pitches over the plate much like he did on opening day for him to answer. he actually said he doesn't know where people get that he is socialist??? really??? if your a crook you hang out with theives, if your an addict you hang out with addicts, if your a christian you hang out with Christians and so forth.. why won't anyone look at the man and say hmmmm... who does he surround himself with?? pretty clear to me..

She didnt have to leave office to get the upfront money on the book. She could've stayed and still made big bucks, then when she was done with what she committed herself to, she could've gotten on the speaking tour. But, please, please nominate her for the next presidential candidate, so we can guarantee 4 more years of Obama. Can you imagine the debates? Pure hilarity will ensue!

So using your "conservative logic" it is probably safe to assume that you are an idiot, right?

Really!
How many of us, if faced with the choice, would stay at a current job making $125,000 a year & say no thank you to a $12 mil a year income?

If you say "Oh! I would stay at my current job!" you are lying sacks of $%#@!
(Or dumber than you portray Palin to be!)

Soooo, by your logic lots more Govenors should quit to make more money just as Palin did ??? Dumb Repugs !
by I_am_me1953 April 14, 2010 12:41 PM EDT
Bisk 1, you are either an idiot or a liar, choose the term that best aplies to you.

SP left being a gov to possibly make $12M income a year, that equals most professional sports salaries and all she has to do is look nice and talk for an hour on subjects that enflame the ultra right wing conservatives.

You wouldn't do the same if you had the opportunity?

Seriously doubt that her contract was found in a campus trash bin. Sounds very much like you need to do a Snopes investigation. The only trash here is your post.

The roads to riches in America is to play to the fear and hate of conservatives. It has made Rush, Hannity, Beck, Coulter, and many other propagandists very, very wealthy. It made the evangelical Prophets for Profit equally wealthy. The puppet masters just shake their right wing zealots like a money tree and it come tumbling down. They all must be laughing all the way to the bank. You have to give Palin credit, for a total moron, she figured out that you can fool a right-wing nut job all of the time and in the process get filthy rich. Only in America!
