Palin: Steele is "Doing a Great Job"

Embattled Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele has recently taken flak from Democrats and Republicans alike. But last night, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took time to praise Steele, hailing him as an "independent outsider."

"I support Michael Steele. I am glad he is the leader of the party, administratively," Palin told Fox News conservative commentator Sean Hannity while at a Minnesota rally for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.).

"Michael Steele is an outsider, the machine is tough to penetrate," she continued. "I think it's good to have an independent outsider trying to create some change in the Republican Party."

The former 2008 vice presidential nominee's comments sharply contrast with some conservatives who have vocalized their disapproval with how Steele is handling the party committee.

Most recently, former Sen. Rick Santorum, a Republican from Pennsylvania and possible 2012 presidential candidate, chided Steele for the "disarray" of his organization. Speaking to Fox Business network on Wednesday, Santorum said, "I think he needs to get back to the RNC, go back to the headquarters, and manage this place."

Palin's comments come as speculation broils that she is trying to distance herself from Steele and the RNC after she pulled out from a series of GOP fundraising events last week. A number of Republican officials and donors have pulled away from the RNC after it came to light that the committee funded a trip to a Los Angeles bondage-themed nightclub for its donors.

But with Palin reassuring her support for Steele, and CNN reporting that an adviser to Palin said she never planned to attend the fundraising events in the first place, her enthusiastic support for the party seems to remain intact.

Palin is expected to speak Friday at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC), a gathering of top Republican officials and potential 2012 presidential nominees.

I like Steele and I am a democrat. I wish him well and a life free of the insanity of the republicant party right now. Think about it, between the certifiably insane tea party lunatics, Sarah Shrill Palin and the Rush Windbags - why would he even want this gig anymore? I'd head for the hills if I were him!!!

Geez, this women changes her tune at the drop of a hat. I wonder how much she is getting paid for her speeches. The RNC spends money on dubious things like strippers, sex bars and pailen.

I thought Palin wanted to have her name taken off the RNC list after that embarrassing debacle with the nasty nightclub...and now she says Steele is doing a "great job?" Good grief! Wishy-washy much, Palin? That woman has no credibility whatsoever.

Palin: Steele is "Doing a Great Job"

Echos of dubya's "Brownie's doing a great job" referring to Michael D. Brown, dubya's embarrasing Director of FEMA who botched the Katrina response totally.

Can someone please tell us why the other two members of the RNC who we at Voyeur that night are being protected by Chairman Steele and the RNC? People have been fired, asked to quit and resigned because of this scandal but these two people are being protected. Why? Is it because they are from California and California is the biggest donor state for the RNC and the RNC doesn't want attention drawn to these people so that we California donors keep giving them our money? Many of us want to know if our California RNC representatives where there. Where they?

I wish people would stop picking on Steele because he is black. I thought some people and media who are attacking him were beyond this hate.

Steele deserves no "free pass" simply because of his pigment.

Michele Bachmann isn't wearing a cross necklace like Sarah P. is. Why not?? How can she claim to speak for Christians if she's not proud of her Christianity. Remember when the 'liberal' press went after Obama for his lack of a flag pin?? I'm sure the 'conservative' right wing press will set their attack dogs on her.

Did you hear Bachmann say she would nuke another country if they cyber-attacked the USA?

Let's give those two gals the the button to start a thermonuclear war. Yeah, I feel safer already.

Sarah Palin has a blind eye concerning misbehaving Republicans.

That and she's a ditz.
