Democratic Party Selling T-Shirts Off Biden's "Big F***ing Deal" Comment

Organizing for America, the Democratic National Committee organization dedicated to mobilizing millions of people who supported Barack Obama in the presidential election, has come up with what it hopes will be a big f***king fundraising success.

OFA is selling t-shirts deeming health care reform a "BFD" -- a reference to an utterance by Vice President Biden to President Obama at the signing of the bill that passage is "a big f***ing deal."

The t-shirts, which cost $25, includes the date the bill was signed (March 23rd), and comes with this product description: "There are things that are a big deal -- birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game. And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans. We worked hard together to make health reform a reality, and now you can celebrate this historic victory with this shirt."

OFA pushed the shirts in Google ads and a special fundraising page on its Web site yesterday, offering the t-shirt in exchange for a donation of $25 or more.

Organizing for America National Press Secretary Lynda Tran told the Atlantic that the shirt was meant to serve as "a little tongue in cheek fun, something supporters could connect with."

While Biden's comment was seen by some as the latest embarrassing utterance by a gaffe-prone politician, many Democrats, including members of the Obama administration, have embraced the vice president's foul-mouthed description of the importance of the passage of health care reform.

Tweeted White House press secretary Robert Gibbs after Biden made the comment: "and yes Mr. Vice President, you're right."

This so sad and shows how out of touch with most Americans they are when they think it is a big deal to sell shirt with the F word on them. Yes these are the people we should look up to ---------------well the election is coming up in November. These folks do not represent the christian values our country was founded on.

This is an April Fools joke right? Seriously. Surely the DNC isn't glorifying such foul mouthed language? I mean, come on! A gaff that was meant to be private is one thing, but surely they aren't really putting out there in public?? April Fools, right?

Whether it is a Democrat or Republican or any other politician, it is a disgrace to the United State of America for this to be broadcast and used for any gain, political or financial. This is just another display of the arrogance portrayed by this Administration. If Barack Obama was any kind of man - he would put a stop to the selling of this tee shirt for anyone's benefit!!!! Also, shows the lack of respect by Joe Biden (or any other politician using this language in this way) for his Country.

There were plenty of conservatives rejoicing when Cheney told the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary committee to go ""F#*k yourself," on the Senate floor.

Makes me proud. i have no problmes with any word... they are only words and guess what they are protected by our consistution... Something I thought eveyrone supported, but I guess the typical hypocricy of many is that you only want to the constitution protected if it matches your idealogies....

VP Biden's crude but inconseqential comment has been blown way out of proportion in the press, but for the DNC to even consider this a good idea for fund raising is unbeliveable. Is this how you guys really want to be seen?

Word of caution for you GOPers - Don't forget our previous VP's use of that very same word directed to a US senator (now VP) and on camera as well.

Let me correct myself before others do. VP Cheney uttered those famous words to Sen Leahy not Biden. Sorry for the error.

ohiopolitico - I hope you said the same when the GOP's were celebrating Cheney's use of the word on the floor of the Senate, also broadcast on TV.
