Harry Reid's Wife and Daughter In Car Accident

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's wife Landra Reid, 69, and daughter Lana Reid-Barringer, 48, were involved in a car accident and have been hospitalized for treatment.

Landra Reid's back, neck and nose were broken in the accident, according to Reid's office. Lana Reid sustained neck injury and facial lacerations. Their vehicle, a van, was rear-ended by a semi-truck while they were driving on a highway near Washington DC.

"Both Mrs. Reid and Lana are conscious, can feel their extremities, and according to doctors their injuries are non-life threatening," Reid spokesman Jon Summers said in a statement. "Senator Reid has been to the hospital and appreciates the support he and his family are receiving from Nevadans and his colleagues in the Senate."

The accident took place on Interstate 95 in Fairfax County, Virginia, according to the Washington Post, which cites Virginia State Police. The two women were driving "in stop-and-go traffic when Reid-Barringer began to stop for traffic ahead of her. A tractor-trailer loaded with rolls of plastic behind her did not stop and pushed the van into another car," the Post reports.

Both ends of the Reids' van were reportedly crushed.

Looks like God hates Reid as much as the 80% of Americans who despise the guy.

I don't particularly like Harry Reid, but I wish his family well...as I do all of the families of people whether I agree with them or not...including yours. When members of someone's family gets hurt in a traffic accident, if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. Weren't you taught that as a kid by your family when you were growing up?

Well said, Brad. there's enough hate in this totally useless comment to realize the depths that politics and life in general has sunk to. Wishing that God hates someone is wishing your life away. Even if 80% of the Americans that despise him, I'd like to think 99.9% of that 80% would not wish ill will on him or his family.........

Was this an unavoidble accident or was this the result of one of our outlaw trucking companies making hundreds of millions of dollars a year forcing their drivers to operate in an unsafe manner with little or no sleep. When will the thousands of people injured or killed in semi-related accidents wake up and realize their loss is just the "cost of doing business" for a wealthy few in trucking. They will continue to fly under the radar and go undetected as long as the media continue to purposely leave those companies involved out of their reporting. Since the Federal tracking of accidents and violations of safety regulations is hugely flawed and the numbers tampered with, the largest contributors will continue to confidently go unnoticed.; Reply to this comment
