Rush Limbaugh: I'll Leave Country Over Health Bill

Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show that he will eventually leave the country if the health care bill passes and its provisions are implemented.

Liberal media watchdog Media Matters recorded Limbaugh's comments, which you can hear at left. At the 1:20 mark, Limbaugh says the following: "I'll just tell you this, if this passes and it's five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented -- I am leaving the country. I'll go to Costa Rica."

It is not clear if Limbaugh was making a joke, if he was saying he would leaving the country permanently, or if he was saying he would leave just for health care.

The radio host was responding to a caller who asked, "If the health care bill passes, where would you go for health care yourself?"

As Karen Tumulty points out, Limbaugh's suggestion that he will go to Costa Rica seems odd in light of the fact that the country offers government-financed universal health care.

I love how the news takes things out of context; he even reiterated that he would leave for Medical Care because he believes the care here in the USA is going to collapse. Secondly, for the idiots, think of the amount of money that Limbaugh brings to our economy, whether you like him or not. If we keep blasting the rich they'll eventually ALL leave; who then will employ us? This kind of stupidity only hurts the Middle Class/Poor NOT the rich, who can afford to leave whenever they want.

Wow, just how ignorant are the posters here? Did you even listen to the video/sound byte? The comment "I will leave the country" was in response to the question posed by the caller he was talking to. The caller asked him where he would go for his health insurance if the bill passed. His RESPONSE to the question was he would leave the country to seek his health insurance. Wow, Brian Montopoli, way to take a comment OUT OF CONTEXT.
