Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was sent to a hospital in Libya Saturday because of his deteriorating health, news service Agence France-Presse reported Saturday night.

The AFP reported that the prostate cancer afflicting Megrahi has spread through his body.

"A scan has shown a worsening of the disease which has spread more than before," the AFP quoted a bulletin from the Tripoli Medical Center where Megrahi is being treated.

The AFP also reported from the bulletin that Megrahi was coughing and vomiting when he arrived at the hospital Saturday. The bulletin also said Megrahi was suffering from "secondary effects" of his chemotherapy treatments.

"His condition was examined Saturday by a team of European experts who agreed on the continuation of chemotherapy sessions while also administering other medicaments to treat the disease," the AFP quoted the hospital saying in the first bulletin it released since Megrahi's release from Scotland in August.

This isn't the first story to be reported about Megrahi's health since he returned to Libya. In October, London's Sky News falsely reported that the bomber had died.

Scottish authorities , a Libyan intelligence agent convicted of the 1988 Lockerbie airliner bombing in which 270 people were killed, in August.

The decision to free Megrahi, terminally ill with prostate cancer, and let him be flown home to Libya and when Pan Am flight 103 exploded.

The blood-soaked Gaddafi dictatorship could be expected to make this claim that al-Megrahi is dying, because al-Megrahi's hero's welcome in Tripoli was an embarrassment to Gaddafi's British collaborators BP and their salesmen in Whitehall.

Regardless of what this man did, no one deserves to die this way. I would not wish cancer on my worst enemy. It is sad that in this day and age people can wish such a horrid disease and such a painful death upon another human being.

So why do we care about this piece of dog s#!t? I would have liked to see him dropped from 30,000 feet over Lockerbie, Scotland, just like the people he murdered.

I really hope that this chemo is very painful for him and that each of his remaining days on earth are filled with pain.

FleetNavalAviator - Your desire for his pain means nothing except to demonstrate your narrow mind. Why do you hope for something that is absolutely inevitable anyway? That just proves your stupidity.

To this day I still believe this man was nothing but a fall guy to hide the real people involved in the bombing of Pam Am 103.I still truly believe that Iran was behind the attack to get back at the US when the navy accidently shot down an Iranian airliner in
July 1988.

He's obviously in better shape than any of the 270,000 people he cold-bloodedly murdered.

270,000?? Are you talking about the Lockerbie attack or the nuclear attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Aah...another of those who likes to change what someone says so as to attempt to deride their opinion. In case you missed it, World War II ended some 50 years ago.

So the Lockerbie attack happened some 20+ years ago. Still it doesn't hide the fact that the nuclear attack on civilians was the terrorist attack that caused the most fatalities in human history.
