Report: 150 Afghan schoolgirls poisoned

(CBS News) KUNDUZ, Afghanistan - About 150 schoolgirls were poisoned Tuesday after drinking water at their high school that was contaminated, Reuters reports. Local officials blamed the incident on radicals opposed to women attending school.

Reuters said the girls suffered headaches and vomiting, with some in critical condition.

"This is not a natural illness. It's an intentional act to poison schoolgirls," Haffizullah Safi, head of Takhar province's public health department, told Reuters.

The Taliban banned education for women when it controlled Afghanistan, saying it was anti-Islamic.

Girls have gone back to school since the Taliban were toppled, but attacks against female students, teachers and school buildings have occurred, particularly in southern and eastern areas of the country, when Taliban insurgents enjoy more public support.

The people who poisoned these girls aren't "radicals" - they're misogynists, woman-haters. Possibly, psychopaths. I doubt the Prophet Mohammed would have approved.

The taliban should care about other people rather than just themselves. If they want peace in this world, that's what they need to do. Doesn't Allah say to love other people? Is it right in their religion to show such hatred to other people? Their beliefs are wrong if they think it's right. These people are misinterpreting their religion.

The Quran says(according to the following website:

Sura 76 Al-Insan(MAKKA): Verse 8
"And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan, and the prisoner, for love of Him,..."

meaning that you're supposed to feed the people without your religious beliefs or people not following your beliefs(prisoners of sin, orphans or people without a father(without Allah as their father), not kill them.

Also,

Sura 85 Al-Burooj(MAKKA): Verse 14
"And He is the Most-Forgiving, the Most-Loving,..."

Your partial quotes do not say anything about those who are not of the Muslim faith. Your interpretation of the first quote is really a work of spin. It is like reading the tripe that the Christian spin doctors put out.

What a sweet, loving, honorable religion this Islam is! Why, women should have no education at all, they don't need it, just keep 'em home, knocked up at the age of 10 years on and life will be a bed of happy roses for them all.

Their bearded husbands that are usually 20 years their senior and being forced to marry their husbands by force when children, and guided by ignorance is bad enough, but now, to poison girls for trying to better their lives, the lives of their families and to further the development of their country is definitely a very neat, nice little deed of hate for sure!
