Iranian Media Pounces On McCain Comments

Iranian state media pounced Friday on statements made by three U.S. senators claiming Iran's election was "rigged."

Republican Senators John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, along with Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., came out in support of protesters of Iran's recent election.

Iran's state-controlled television outlet, PressTV, referred to McCain as having a "warmongering line on Iran."

McCain called the current Iranian government "illegitimate."

Many Iranians say, Iranian peaceful demonstration was turned into street riot, burning buses, destroying property, and looting instigated by MKO and others. Some Iranians suggest that Neda Agha Soltan was killed by one of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) agents. She was killed to create emotional reaction by Iranians against their government.
What did we do during Watts Riots of 1965, a large-scale race riot which lasted 6 days in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, causing mayhem and public property damage? What do we do if a peaceful demonstration in Washington about any issue would be taken over by outsiders to the demonstration and made into Watts type of riot? What can they do? They must restore order or accept anarchy. What did we do at Watts, Detroit and DC, and at Kent State? USA called in the National Guard.
Why did we not respond to the 2000 and 2004 flawed elections? The Supreme Court decided the vote for the 2000 election. An equivalent organization, Guardian Council will decide the result of the vote for Iran.
The Iran Freedom and Support Act " 2005, created a $10 million fund for support of Iranian democracy " as a starting point on how to lead Iranian protesters, create sabotage and mayhem to lead to regime change in Iran. We had provided MKO with technical and financial support for anti-Iranian activities.

by fred-mertz June 26, 2009 9:38 AM EDT: NOT SO. You haven't been paying attention. During his campaign, Obama quite deliberately never even mentioned Iran. Obama's view on most foreign policy is to NOT try to create enemies, to NOT try to interfere in other countries' business, whenever possible. The republican playbook, OTOH, is to spew negativity randomly, in an attempt to appear "macho", and then to royally eff-you-see-kay up everything they touch as they dash around madly, creating more enemies than they can handle.

The history of relations between the USA and Iran is full of instances where we interferred with Iran, and that has made them hate and distrust us. The repukes want to continue, and even escalate, the hatred. That path is a proven failure. We can't help the situation by getting involved, we can only make things worse by doing that.

There is a difference between saying the govt. is illiget and saying the USA will not recognize the new pres and govt. unless...

Does any of this remind anyone of GWB response pre to and post Palestinian election? GWB pre-election; the democratic process is good for the Palestinians, GO Abbas! GWB post Hamas win, we don't recognize that their elected govt. Personally I considered it two-faced behavior from GWB. Their (Palestinians) free and independent election was a great thing until they elected a pres. that runs counter to the wishes and will of GWB.
