WikiLeaks' Assange Continues Assault on U.S. Officials

US State Department, WikiLeaks

/ CBS/AP

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange continued his assault on U.S. government officials, calling for President Obama to resign if it is proven that he approved of spying on UN officials by U.S. diplomats.

Assange told El Pais, "The whole chain of command who was aware of this order, and approved it, must resign if the US is to be seen to be a credible nation that obeys the rule of law. The order is so serious it may well have been put to the president for approval."

Assange has also called on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to resign her post.

The State Department directive sent in July 2009 asked diplomats to collect basic contact information about U.N. officials, including Internet passwords, credit card numbers and frequent flyer numbers.

WikiLeaks documents reveal that the CIA was behind the State Department's directive to gather information on U.N. officials.

State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said that Secretary Clinton "is responsible, but she was not the author of that particular document, and the contents of that came from outside the Department of State."

"Our diplomats are just that, diplomats," Crowley maintained."They collect information that shapes our policies and actions."

The Department of Justice is considering bringing criminal charges against Assange.

Assange is thought to be hiding in the U.K. London police are expected to execute Interpol's arrest warrant to bring him in for questioning on sex crimes charges and possible extradition proceedings.

In the cat-and-mouse spy game, WikiLeaks' supporters a backup plan to disseminate data if anything untoward happens to Assange or the website. Thousands of encrypted files containing an uncensored version of the diplomatic cables have been sent around the world, and can be opened with a special "key."

I can't believe you guys are actually supporting this Wiki Terrorist!! What if these leaks lead to the death of a family member or someone you know or love. What it it lead to another 9/11 which may have been prevented otherwise. The only thing these leaks have done is compromise the safety and security of every American. Our security depends on corporation between our allies, informants, and military forces protecting what so many of us take for granted. These leaks may have permanently damaged whatever trust we had left in the eyes of the world. This will have dire consequences of which the American people will pay the price. I don't want to live in a police state. Although we may be heading there if that is the only way to keep this country safe. This guy is on borrowed time and is just a matter of time before he gets axed!! There is a fine line between what we need to know and what we don't. Personally if it is something I can't change the outcome of or in the position to then I don't need to know. The only thing this is going to do is create panic and chaos. It will turn this county into a war zone. Now no doubt some people would like to believe that a crippled US government means better for them.

Although what it really means is a time bomb waiting to go off. US falls the rest will go with it soon after. I am all for transparency but not if this threatens our very existence. If that means less freedom so be it. Better then being dead which won't help me any. Our government isn't't perfect by any means as is with any government. Although what right do we have to play god. Go ahead and champion this messenger of death. Let's see where that will take us in the end. If wiki-leaks thinks it is doing us a favor. They are the most morbid disturbed people on planet earth. Maybe that is what they want, who knows. There is one sure fire way of ending this all. Destroying the tool which got us there. Get out in the world and make a difference. Don't let borders and oceans stop people for interacting with each other. The internet has made us into a culture of introverts. Thus hiding behind our predigests and misunderstandings. We fear what we can't grasp or understand. This is our biggest weakness and Wiki-leaks is playing right into that perception.

We must do everything we can, personally, to ensure we support Assange, free speech and the pursuit of the truth. When it come to our corrupt, Mafia Corporation run government, the truth will hurt. But as Assange know, We the People won't be able to fix the problems until we admit them. And the arrogant American people are so ignorant, uneducated and spoiled by consumption that we need someone like Assange to hit us over the head with a sledgehammer. And then tell the dimwitted morons that it wasn't a large bird turd.

We have the most corrupt country on earth. We spend the most on military and we have one of the largest gaps between the filthy rich and the poor. This just begs for the ruling class to be immoral criminals.

Essentially we are a primitive and violent species and Americans might just be the worst of the lot.

The officials are all up in arms....if true, shouldn't the Atorney General be launching an investigation along with those who oversee our rights as citizens of this country?

This should be the time, as I am sure Assange was hoping, that we ALL admit what a problem the United States has been. The truth about what has happened should give us all a wakeup call that the people should run the country, not rich and powerful big corporations who have no trouble waging war for their profits.

This is the moment that the people of the earth re-claim what is rightfully their away from the greedy theocrats and corporate robber barons. They have been stealing and literally getting away with murder for too long.

We should all support Assange's freedom of speech. It is never a crime to expose crimes. And we should all (the entire world) be aware of which countries pose a threat to world peace. Even if it is out own.

Keep up the good work Julian and godspeed!

The United States has long since stopped being a Lawful State, if it ever was one.
The government has adopted the NAZI philosophy, that the laws simply do not apply to the government itself. Carl Schmitt's book "THE CONCEPT OF THE POLITICAL", and Ernst Fraenkel's book, "THE DUAL STATE", further explain the principals of this philosophy.

Good post, I think too many people actually think we live in some kind of democracy where we have freedoms. The people who are on the pedestal in this country are the filthy rich and they are anti-democratic and do not care about country or life on earth.
