Palin Wonders Whether Democrats Think Terrorists Have Changed Their Minds

(COLUMBIA, MO.) - A fired-up Sarah Palin began her final campaign push at an outdoor rally on an unseasonably warm weather in the wealthy Cleveland suburb of Lakewood. At various points in her speech, the small crowd of under 1,000 people chanted, "We will win!" and the Alaska governor seemed to feed off their energy.
"I'll tell ya, this is the right place to be for us to kick off this final day of campaigning—this is the right place to be," Palin said. "You can just feel it here, you can just feel it here in Ohio, victory's coming, we can do this—we can win. We can win, Ohio. And we must win for you!"
As she makes her final plea to get out the vote among her conservative base, Palin hit three of her favorite targets: the "mainstream media," San Francisco, and Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., whose name drew a particularly strong reaction from the crowd.
"[Frank] tells us that, you know, if all of this happens, according to him, the leadership, what's going to happen, first thing on the chopping block, one of the first things to go will be one quarter of your U.S. defense budget," Palin said. "And he's on the record explaining this to American voters: 'Hey, here's your choice, we're going to chop and gut this defense budget.'"
The stream of boos coming from the crowd seemed to inspire Palin to go off-script to hammer her point home.
"This in a time of multiple conflicts and obvious danger still to the homeland," she said. "What do they think? That the terrorists have suddenly changed their minds and no longer do they seek to destroy America and her allies and all that it is that we stand for – freedom, democracy, equal rights, tolerance all those things that we stand for? Do they think the terrorists have changed their minds?"
