Obama: "McCain Was Funny" on "SNL"

(CBS)
(COLUMBUS, OHIO) - Despite his hectic schedule in the final two days of the campaign, Barack Obama couldn't resist catching a glimpse of his opponent on "Saturday Night Live."
"I missed it yesterday, but I saw him on Youtube. John McCain was funny yesterday on 'Saturday Night Live,'" Obama told the thousands who gathered for rally at the Ohio State House today.
Obama has been calling for more "civility" in politics, and said today that there is a benefit to injecting humor in the often tense political climate. "That's part of what our politics should be about, being able to laugh at each other, but also laugh at ourselves."
Although Obama sometimes shows his comedic side on the campaign trail, he rarely engages in self deprecating humor. However, Obama shows a much lighter side of himself when his family joins him on the stump. At a rally in Springfield, Missouri last night, he joked about being the least popular Obama.
"I know you came here to see Sasha and Malia and Michelle. I'm the least exciting Obama!"
Senior aide Robert Gibbs notes that there is a noticeable change in Obama when his family is on the campaign trail. "He's happy and he's playful," Gibbs said, "I think he's a better campaigner."
Unlike Cindy McCain, who regularly travels with her husband, Michelle Obama appears less often at events headlined by her husband.

- Even in good humor, it must be hard to take for the McCain campaign: so much of what Obama recommends turns out to be so close to what both sides decide is the best for our country, while so much of what McCain recommends turns out to cost our country a disaster that requires expensive bailouts and expensive surges. The Poor Judgment of the Keating Five scandal is so similar to the poor judgment of the deregulation McCain supported to bring on todays economic disaster. Neglect of hard studies and preference for the McCain style quicky decisions has cost us so much from lost planes due to neglect of flight manual study to loss of life and limb due to neglect of intelligence information study.

- To Olivia4441. Point taken, but there are two important points to bear in mind: a. If you''re earning over $250,000.00 per annum, I find it difficult to see that a new pair of shoes or parts for your car will be seriously impacted by a marginal increase in taxes; b. The key Communist nation entity existing today is China, well madam that is one of the biggest markets for western companies and one of the biggest investors in err..the US economy, God help us if they disinvest. Obama is not a Communist, I don''t particyularly like him, but feel that there is a responsibility to be factual and truthful. Many thanks
