Joe a No-Show at McCain Rally

From CBS News' John Bentley:

(DEFIANCE, OHIO) -- Joe the Plumber stood up John the Presidential Candidate. At a rally here, McCain asked for Joe Wurzelbacher – aka "Joe the Plumber" – to stand up and be recognized, but he was nowhere to be found.

"Joe's with us today. Joe, where are you?" McCain asked, clearly hoping that Joe would make himself known. "Joe, I thought you were here today. All right, well, you're all Joe the plumber, so all of you stand up."

The official campaign response was that Joe the Plumber is a metaphor – every hard-working American is Joe the Plumber. McCain has held several events called "Joe the Plumber" rallies where Joe was not – and was not expected to be – in attendance. But sources within the campaign have said that Joe was indeed supposed to be here, and that there was some sort of scheduling mix-up that resulted in him not showing up.

Recently, Joe has been campaigning with McCain's running mate Sarah Palin, and the campaign says he will be showing up later today on the Ohio bus tour.

It is so sad when you have to portray "the plumber and the lip-sticked pit bull" as the focus of your campaign! McSame has no idea of what the country is going through, the dismal state of the economy and our lives, quickly sliding downhill at breakneck pace. How can you expect old McSame to lead our country out of this misery when his focus is narrowed to these two characters??

Haven''t you heard? Joe has decided he either wants to be a country music singer or a congressman! No s*h*i*t. Gee, two more jobs for which he isn''t qualified.

patmac991,

I do not believe Wurzelbacher is joke. Sure, he is not what he portrayed himself to be when he asked his question of Senator Obama, but he is a lucky jerk who has become a hero to the radical right wingnuts. He is a somewhat dimmer light than Rush Limbaugh, but he may get his own talk radio show out of his recent celebrity status.

Skylark2020,

Easy now! You should be kind to those of limited ability.

McCain keeps trying to discredit Obama by exaggerating his limited connections with "radicals" & other undesirables. But what does his association with Palin and Joe, and the prominence he has given two basic ignoramuses in his campaign, say about his fitness for leadership?

mytoosense,

I believe you may be on to something. Joe Wurzelbacher realizes he is a lucky jerk. He will milk his accidental celebrity to the hilt.

And OF COURSE the campaign had to pull a cover-up, had to put a spin on it. They couldn''t simply say "Hey, schedule foul-up... It happens." No-o-o-o-ooo.... "Uh, well, er... uh... Senator McCain calls ALL of his events "Joe the Plumber events"!

Freakin'' conniving, lying LOSERS!
