Palin Soldiers On Through The Rain

From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(FREDERICKSBURG, VA.) - In warm, sunny Florida yesterday, Sarah Palin held two indoor rallies. Now that she's stumping across cold, rainy Virginia, the Alaska governor has the misfortune of having scheduled three outdoor events across the state.

In Fredericksburg, what started as a cool drizzle when Palin took the stage, turned into a steady, uncomfortable rain by the time she was halfway through her remarks. But the Republican VP nominee was unfazed.

"By the way, I love this weather because it reminds me of home," she said.

As the rain came down harder, some in the crowd ducked under trees and others covered their heads using campaign signs, but Palin didn't even request an umbrella as she stood on stage, calmly reading through her prepared remarks.

Palin continued to warn of the potential hazards of a complete Democratic takeover of the federal government.

"Friends, if big government spenders control the House and the Senate, and heaven forbid the White House, they will have that monopoly of power in Washington, D.C.," she said.

"The Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda would put America on the path—it would be a path that erodes the work ethic, that strong work ethic that made this country so great."

Hey I would like to point out that people left in droves as soon as it started raining, rather than standing there diligently as was suggested. It wasn''t even full to begin with! A 5000 person venue!

Also, Gilmore claimed he balanced the budget - he didn''t; I and the other republicans around me *knew* this simply wasn''t true. How can you lie like this to your own people? Voting democrat begins to look pretty attractive this time around, all down the board.

Just in....
Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens was found guilty.

When Palin was deciding on the contractors for the Wasilla hockey arena, she used the same contractors as Stevens to build her home expansion. To no ones surprise, she gave the Wasilla hockey arena contract to this company. Paperwork for the Palin home expansion are eerily similar to Stevens.

Mrs. Palin is just plain wrong.

The Democratic party doesn''t erode the work ethic. I run my own small business and Senator Obama''s program is best for me.

It is the Republican''s and McCain who have us in a huge national debt and a foolish war costing a $trillion, and now a rescue plan needed because of their mismanagement. My children and grandchildren will be paying for the Republican''s greed and the robber baron policies of Bush-Chaney and their party. One could dispair of the unfairness. That could get rid of the work ethic more than anything. No, Mrs. Palin is just wrong and as always continues to spin. Such spin doesn''t stick to me. It doesn''t stick to any of us in our family. We know her type that will say anything and do anything for power and a few Roman coins.

Truthmatters, the economic crisis was caused by Affirmative Action lending in the Community Reinvestment Act enacted by Carter and expanded by Clinton. A bill trying to regulate the practice was blocked by Democrats.

Scott Conroy, you may be the last real journalist left on the planet. I just wandered in from a search engine and I see all the five W''s intact and nothing else. I haven''t seen journalism in years. Great article. Thank you.
