Biden Focuses on Debate Prep, Mishears Question on Rejection of Bailout Bill

(WILMINGTON, DEL.) - Joe Biden and top Obama advisers spent today prepping for this week's vice presidential debate with Sarah Palin, which campaign members saying will be "challenging" for Biden, a 36-year Senate veteran.

Aided by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, D-Mich., who stood in for Palin during practice runs today, Biden spent seven hours on the second floor of the Sheraton Suites hotel in Wilmington before taking a break for dinner at 6:30pm.

The Obama-Biden campaign continues trying to raise expectations for Palin, saying they expect her to be a "skilled debater" and to be a challenger contender when she meets with Biden in St. Louis.

Meantime, the Dow saw its largest single-day point drop of today - 777 points - as Congress failed to muster up the votes needed to pass the financial bailout bill.

Obama's campaign released a joint statement on behalf of Obama and Biden, saying "This is a moment of national crisis, and today's inaction in Congress as well as the angry and hyper-partisan statement released by the McCain campaign are exactly why the American people are disgusted with Washington. Now is the time for Democrats and Republicans to join together and act in a way that prevents an economic catastrophe."

As he exited the hotel for his dinner break, Biden was asked "Senator, can we get your reaction to the House bill not passing?"

Biden interrupted the question with a "Hey folks," to reporters and then said "Oh, things are going well."

Biden's press secretary, David Wade, sent an e-mail minutes later, saying "the senator thought you asked how prep was going" for this week's debate with Gov. Sarah Palin.

Prior to Biden's departure, the press was moved further away from the hotel's exit, perhaps far enough away that it prevented Biden from clearly hearing the question.

Obama and Biden want to be nice, By saying Palin will be a good debater. But I don''t have to. Palin will get skined like the moose that she kills. Biden this will be the Easest Debate that you ever had.

I''m glad Sarah doesn''t give the media interviews... it obvious the media is so friggen lopsided it''s a waste of her campaign time, so screw them!
She is smart, tough, and PROVEN in her accomplishments.

Thanks to reporting from Amir Taheri, the gist of which the Obama campaign has confirmed, we now know that while Obama is telling the American people he wants an end to the war, he has secretly negotiated with the government in Iraq to extend the U.S. military mission there. That is a black-and-white violation of federal criminal law.


Yet, during Obama%u2019s heralded trip to Baghdad in July, he asked Iraqi leaders to ignore Bush and delay resolving the legal status of our forces until next year - by which time the Senator hopes no longer to need a phony presidential seal.

Under the %u201CLogan Act%u201D (now codified at Section 953 of the federal penal code) it has been against the law since the late 18th century for U.S. citizens to carry on %u201Cintercourse with any foreign government%u201D that is aimed either %u201Cto defeat the measures of the United States%u201D or to influence the foreign government%u2019s dealings with the United States. Being a senator is no immunity from this statute - as any Republican senator would find out in a hurry if he dared to pull a stunt like this during an Obama administration.

The mishearing thing is not news, but is interesting nonetheless. If you read the text, this is an amateur. The news might be valid, but this guy needs an editor. As for the debate, I think Palin might well turn out to be more proficient than her badly mangled interviews and ad hoc encounters might indicate. For one thing, Biden has lots of votes over many years to criticize, not to mention a couple of things -- the "plagiarism" incident which could be easily blown up and made hard to explain, and his relationship with MBNA -- which could create problems. I read somewhere that there will likely be about 12 questions. How hard would it be for her to prepare for that? I just wouldn''t under estimate her.

So now when you toss out a gaffe, the media will cover for you by announcing it was "misheard".

Is the the new narrative you guys are now pushing.???

So old Joe had been mishearing a lot then...?

Writing in a name on the ballot will be like not voting at all. An Independent (or otherwise) will never get enough votes to make a difference; all it will do is potentially sway the outcome of the two major parties one way or the other.

DrJack - that''s *assuming* Palin will ever be *available* to answer a frickin question. She can''t even go to a sandwich shop without *** up, guess she needs to hold McDaddy''s hand everywhere she goes. Then she had to sit next to him so while he complained about the media basically tricking her. At least when Biden mis-hears, or makes a gaffe, he remains a ''big boy'' and doesn''t run to hide behind Obama.
