McCain Reacts To Bailout Failure

(DES MOINES, IOWA) – John McCain called on Congress to return to Capitol Hill to work on the bailout bill, and accused Barack Obama's campaign of politicizing the process.

"Sen. Obama and his allies in Congress infused unnecessary partisanship into the process. Now is not the time to fix the blame. It's time to fix the problem," McCain said in a hastily called statement to the press here today.

"I would hope that all our leaders, all of them, can put aside short term political goals and do what's in the best interest of the American people."

Earlier today, the McCain campaign did fix the blame squarely on Congressional Democrats and Obama, calling him "out of touch."

"This is a moment of national crisis, and today's inaction in Congress as well as the angry and hyper-partisan statement released by the McCain campaign are exactly why the American people are disgusted with Washington,: said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.

"Now is the time for Democrats and Republicans to join together and act in a way that prevents an economic catastrophe."

McCain's campaign also pointed to statements by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for scuttling the bailout.

"Democrats believe in a free market. We know that it can create jobs, it can create wealth, it can create many good things in our economy," Pelosi said. "But in this case, in its unbridled form, as encouraged, supported, by the Republicans, some in the Republican Party, not all, it has created not jobs, not capital, it has created chaos."

"That speech was one of the most reckless acts I've seen from a congressional leader in twenty years on the Hill," said a senior McCain adviser.

by mattcat25 September 30, 2008 2:41 PM EDT: John McCain was for this huge Bail-out Plan before he was against it, and now has changed his mind about changing his mind about being for a bill that everyone is against and he%u2019s not for any negative affirmation on the positive side of supporting any less action then was previously held in regard to opposing if, the bill doesn%u2019t pass, or if the bill passes John McCain will be in favor of, or if failed will condemn the bill as liberal and biased and ALL BILL CLINTON%u2019S FAULT!!; Reply to this comment

John McCain ''suspended'' his campaign (while not really suspending it), claiming that he was going to Washington to help sort out the bailout deal, that was close to getting passed until he decided to get involved, headed to washington, said that he did not like the plan, emboldened house republicans to resist the bill...which resulted in todays failure to pass the bill...which resulted in todays 777point loss on the dow, and over 1 trillion in paper losses...And it is Obama''s fault....hmmm

I get it, he is blaming Obama because Obama failed to rally his house republicans behind the bill? I see, so that''s John McCain''s line of logic. Man he sure is a Maverick. His party doesn''t do his bidding, and his logic is so unique. What a maverick, a maverick who has crashed 5 plans, 1 bailout meeting, and the Dow index....and what a maverick he is.; Reply to this comment
