McCain Stays Off Campaign Trail To Work On Bailout

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Even though his campaign is no longer suspended, John McCain is staying in Washington this weekend to keep working on the bailout legislation. He will not be visiting Capitol Hill, however, preferring to work out of his campaign office.

"He can effectively do what he needs to do by phone," said senior adviser Mark Salter. "He's calling members on both sides, talking to people in the administration, helping out as he can."

McCain was supposed to travel to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend, but canceled the campaign trip and instead flew back to Washington after last night's debate. With less than 40 days left before Election Day, though, McCain cannot afford to stop campaigning for too long.

"We hope to have a deal in place so we can get back on the trail," said Salter.

McCain is behind in the polls and he is not actively on the ''campaign trail''? He can only make local phone calls? Can we say publicity stunt?

Obama has the right idea, continue to campaign and consult by phone from wherever he currently is. That''s multi-tasking and using technology.

He needs the rest. At 72 , the campaign trail gets more grueling. Campaigning is truly not for old people , so McCain is trying to do much of it with tricks (such as returning to Washington on a sham). He does not look like a robust man anymore so it is better if you can find a way to get noticed without being seen, by phone or some other nonappearance way. His running mate cannot take on any of the burden of the trail, so that leaves McCain to figure out ways to campaign other than campaigning.

What a load of BS, or to quote McCain "horsesh*t"! Remember, his wife is the Budweiser heiress. They have 7 homes and 13 cars. McCain lives on WALL STREET and couldn''t find MAIN STREET if he tripped onto it. It has been stated by both parties that his "help" is not needed at this time. In such a time of financial crisis, America is entitled to HEAR from the presidential candidates. After the debate Biden spoke, where was Palin? Cramming for her VP debate? Both Obama and Biden have been transparent. McCain and Palin have not. I guarantee if this financial crisis was a war crisis , McCain would be on the television, radio and print media 24/7 to prove his "readiness" to lead this country. Wake up people! He''s covering his and his ''associates'''' financial a$$es with this tactic. Pure strategy designed to ''muddle'' his way through this crisis and into the White House.

Yes...He wants to make sure that there is no Bankruptcy Reform in the new bill to help the regular folks (middle class)...He want''s to make sure that his banking buddies --like Keating-- who got us into this mess are protected...10,000 foreclosed families a day...
