From CBS News' John Bentley:

(NEW YORK) – Taking advantage of being in New York City with the United Nations in session, John McCain is meeting with a number of foreign leaders and paying a visit to some celebrities as well.

This morning, he and his running mate Sarah Palin will be meeting with a couple of leaders of former Soviet republics, President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia and Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko. McCain says he has known Saakashvili for many years and has been an outspoken supporter of Georgia during their recent clash with Russia.

After some foreign policy talk, McCain and Palin will meet with U2 frontman Bono, as he is a supporter of ONE campaign, an international aid organization which Bono co-founded. Then McCain is off to a taping of the "Late Show with David Letterman", a couple of weeks after Barack Obama was a guest on the show.

McCain and Palin wrap up their day by meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, with McCain following that by having one last meeting with Cisco systems CEO John Chambers.

Reports are McCain wants to cancel Friday''s debate because of the financial crisis but he has no problem appearing on David Letterman tonight -- how strange.

It is very scary that Palin has to go to such great lengths to get ready for a debate, thus showing her utter unpreparedness to be the VP. What will happen, god forbid, if she were to be thrust into the Presidency by the untimely demise or even illness of McCain.

I guess Palin is not the only one who wears lipstick in McCain/Palin. There is a story about McCain spending $5500 on make-up:

I guess those campaign donations are put to good use.

he has alot of nerve getting on obamas case when he is tryin to get his own celebrity thing going.... i hope women wise up and not vote for this man.... HE EVEN VOTES AGAINST EQUAL PAY FOR WOMEN
WHAT A TOTAL HYPOCRITE...with all the single women and single mothers out there trying to scratch out a living he wants to insult women by picking a token woman for his running mate and she should be kicked herself for standing by him....

Looks like John McCain''s in John Edwards'' hair territory here, from US magazine:

John McCain Uses Idol Makeup Artist! Wednesday September 24, 2008

The 72-year-old was recently made TV-ready by makeup artist Tifanie White who''s worked on So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol.

McCain paid the 2002 beauty-school grad $5,583.43 for her services, according to the Federal Election Commission.

What''s this? McCain and Sarahito socializing with "celebrities" after looking down their elitist noses at anyone deemed more popular than they? The only thing scarier than a McCain presidency is the thought of a Palin presidency.

Someone who can not only lead the US but can begin to instill confidence into the world. We have to think bigger than the religious right, the NRA and the POW experience in this election. The future of the USA in the world is at stake.

Of course McCain has known Saakashvili for many years.

A month ago, it was widely reported McCain''s campaign manager Rick Davis is a lobbyist for Georgia.
