McCain Campaign Trashes The New York Times

(PHILADELPHIA) – John McCain's campaign manager Steve Schmidt lashed out at the media today, specifically the New York Times, on a conference call with – the media.

"Let's be clear and be honest with each other about something fundamental to this race, which is this is that whatever the New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization. It is a pro-Obama advocacy organization that everyday attacks the McCain campaign, attacks Senator McCain, attacks Governor Palin, and excuses Senator Obama," Schmidt said.

"This is an organization that is completely, totally, 150 percent in the tank for the Democratic candidate, which is their prerogative to be, but let's not be dishonest and call it something other than what it is. Everything that is read in the New York Times that attacks this campaign should be evaluated by the American people from that perspective, that it is an organization that has made a decision to cast aside its journalistic integrity and tradition to advocate for the defeat of one candidate in this case John McCain and advocate for the election of the other candidate, Barack Obama."

Once a candidate that called the national media "his base," McCain and his campaign have not held a press conference with the press corps that follows him for over a month, and Palin has yet to hold a press conference with the national media.

Schmidt's anger has apparently bubbled over to McCain supporters as well. At a town hall in Scranton today, instead of asking the candidate a question, a woman issued a diatribe against the media.

"I also want to take the opportunity to ask the media, where is your 30 investigators over in Chicago looking at Ayers? We want the media to start doing their job and stop picking on little children because of their age and their pregnancies. Shame on you! Shame on all of you's!"

"That is a great question," McCain responded.

by jensenjas September 23, 2008 5:41 PM EDT: for all those who are so quick to condemn mccain on being closely tied to fannie mae and freddie mac: keep in mind that obama is #2 on the list of senators receiving contributions from fannie and freddie. put your bias aside and stick to the facts. both candidates have ties to these organizations. obama is not exempt.; Reply to this comment

They really need to start pointing out what the falsehood or lies actually are in what''s being reported instead of just ranting like Pigs ( especially with lipstick on). Cheers! ...... what else do you want done, that''s not already been done ? What you''ve just wasted time posting has already been known for months and most Americans like me have already decided that they''re not important enough to make me vote against my interests. But you listen to Repugs and you''re surprised what they want done to Obama but won''t accept for Palin, who may have actually lied about being the mother of Trig - Most people i''ve seen believe someone that''ll do something as heinous as that, deserves no Public Office besides people have been convicted for less in this country and maybe NEVER in Alaska. If she''s not experienced enough, she''ll never be after she gets elected. A state of 650,000 less that the district that Obama represented will in his state senate & now rep. over 13million in the US Senate. Cheers!; Reply to this comment

Below is a limited list of areas where the media has failed to investigate Obama.

This list does not include Obama%u2019s many policy reversals or outright fabrications, like the statement that the Kennedy family facilitated his father coming to the United States.

It does not include Obama%u2019s habit of voting %u2018present%u2019 as a member of the Illinois State Senate nor his strange maneuverings regarding a born alive bill.

Instead, the list below concerns Obama%u2019s associates and business dealings.

It is a sordid group, comprised of the America-hating, anti-Israel, and explicitly racial Left. There is big money involved, as with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and bizarre organizations to which money was funneled.

Obama%u2019s milieu is the intersection of Chicago politics and the fringe Left; there is much to be explored and explained about Obama. Below is a partial list where Obama remains unvetted:

1. Trinity United Church of Christ. Obama%u2019s 20-year membership in an explicitly racist church, a church with rhetoric too hot for Oprah.

2. Rezko. Obama%u2019s ties to Tony Rezko and the 2005 purchase of the Obamas%u2019 home. Obama funnelling money to Rezko%u2019s sleazy businesses.
3. Ayers. Obama%u2019s extensive ties to unrepentant terroist Bill Ayers.

4. Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC). Obama and Ayers together dispensing tens of millions of dollars supposedly for educational organizations.

Although now just being investigated, it%u2019s known that money was funnelled to Ayers%u2019 friend, radical Mike Klonsky, a founding member of the Maoist Party of the United States.

5. Minister Louis Farrakhan. Obama is surrounded by people like Rev. Willie Barrow, a friend and admirer of the anti-white, anti-Semitic Farrakhan.

In effect, the best thing that can happen for the supported candidate in an endeavor reliant on Karl Rove-ian techniques is that early in the process, based on party affiliation or non-issue based biases or preferences, each supporter strongly or weakly decides to vote for the target candidate and thereafter is never subjected to any new election information; 2nd preference - said supporter will automatically reject new election information critical of supported candidate based on a programmed perception that the source is illegitimate.

Of course, such %u201CBest Methods%u201D are dependent on what appears to be a Karl Rove-ian view that implicitly and emphatically asserts the general and natural gullibility or prejudice of the American electorate. In the words of Kurt Vonnegut, %u201CAnd so it goes.%u201D; Reply to this comment
