Biden Not Getting "Extra" Coverage

From CBS News' Ryan Corsaro:

(WASHINGTON) - Don't expect to see Joe Biden interviewed on the celebrity gossip show "Extra" anytime soon.

The entertainment news program sent their own AJ Calloway out to try and score an interview with Biden while he campaigned in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

But Calloway was pulled off the gig this morning, halfway through the two day stint, for a more secured interview tomorrow - with Denzel Washington.

An "Extra" producer and cameraman will remain with Biden as he campaigns today in Pennsylvania.

Politicians have become more and more visible on shows such as "The Insider" and "Extra", as well as celebrity-oriented magazines.

The Obamas gave their first interview as a family with daughters Sasha and Malia to "Access Hollywood" in July, a decision Obama said he later regretted because of bringing media attention to his young girls.

The McCains, whose children are grown, did their first full family photo spread of the election with People Magazine, which was published last week.

Asked to comment on the attention celeb shows are paying to politics, an "Extra" top producer released an extra-enthusiastic response.

"With EXTRA's new interactive format, the viewers are connected to the political candidates more now than ever! When AJ met up with Joe Biden today, he was armed with questions straight from EXTRA fans and ready to get the answers the viewers care about. EXTRA viewers are interested in all sides of the candidates... from issues and platforms to their exercise regimes and even what's on their IPODS," wrote Lisa Gregorisch–Dempsey, Senior Executive Producer of, you guessed it, EXTRA.

I remember in the darkest times of the Bush/mcCheney cabal Joe Biden was the only voice of dissent standing up for our troops in Iraq and the American People during a time when Bush%u2019s war was still in the debate as a %u201Cgood war%u201D or valid mission.

I think it%u2019s the Republicans that have the short term memory.

I like Biden. He''s a real American who is not uber-rich like McCain. He''s kept his roots and kept his values. His son is going off to Iraq in a few weeks. Seems like he''s instilled the right values in his family.

He''s not as flashy or extremist as is Paline, and I would trust him as President if that ever was necessary.
