Biden Says Hillary Might Be A Better VP

(CBS)
From CBS News' Ryan Corsaro:

(NASHUA, N.H.) - Joe Biden went above and beyond in showing support for Hillary Clinton today, saying she was more qualified than him to be vice president.

"Make no mistake about this – Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America, let's get that straight. She's a truly close personal friend. She is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she's easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me. But she's first rate, I mean that sincerely. She's first rate so let's get that straight."

The response from Biden came after a man told him he was "happy" that Obama had beat out Clinton to win the nomination. Biden lowered and shook his head as the man delivered what was intended to be a compliment.

A McCain spokesman, who watched the feed live on a streaming news website, immediately sent the quote to the Republican National Committee, who distributed it to members of the press.

Before the event had ended, McCain spokesman Ben Porritt, issued a statement, saying:

"Barack Obama's most important decision of this election and Biden—the candidate he selects suggests himself that he wasn't the right man for the job and that Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice. Biden certainly has a credible viewpoint on this."

It was not the first statement Porritt has released this afternoon. As Biden delivered his speech, the McCain campaign released line after line attacking Biden.

After Biden received a question on gun control, telling the crowd that he supported the second amendment and the right for New Hampshire residents to own guns, Porritt emailed, "This ticket has the worst record on second amendment rights of any ticket in modern presidential history."

While Biden was illustrating examples of how he and Obama would reach across the aisle on political issues, Porritt wrote, "Barack Obama has zero record of bipartisanship."

["FunOBama Your brain is not too good. You assume just cause he says she is more qualified, that means he will be replaced? That is typical Republitard thinking. He is still way more qualified than Sarah Coulter/Palin no matter what anyone says. You are saying it is not true that Hilary is more qualified than Biden? No wonder you are a Republiturd. You are mentally challenged."]

A sure sign of a insecure & low self esteem person is one that resorts to name calling. You will never get your point accross to anyone by casting dispersions at people. there is to much vitriol. and not enough intelligent discussion.

pastdue1,

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. Considering that about half of this country is considering voting for an even MORE EXTREME pair of neocons McCain/Palin AGAIN after 8 years of BushCo, I''d say that the media has done an excellent job of dumbing down the population.

You know what? These are all just red herrings to keep from talking about the pressing issues that should be discussed in this campaign. The media gleefully leaps on every facetious silly thing and fills their news slots with it; could it be that the media thinks that this Jr High kind of stuff is all the American public can understand or is interested in.

Really getting of tired of hearing Biden complimenting McCain and Palin, saying he won''t attack them, and now trying to stir up the Hillary crowd. How much is the GOP paying him? Or is it that they used their illegal wiretap technology to dig up some dirt on him to blackmail him with? Either way, GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME BIDEN!!!! TOO MUCH AT STAKE HERE FOR YOU TO PULL A KERRY/EDWARDS ON US!!!!

What I really REALLY like and respect about Biden is the fact that he''s a total open book, not afraid to deal with reality and what everybody''s talking about. That takes a LOT of strength of will to do that.

It also shows some humility because I think he was being sincere in what he said about Hillary, yet objectively I think Biden was more qualified to be President than either Barack or Hillary.

Campaigns are funny in the way people rarely vote for the most qualified person - or maybe it''s more accurate to say that people sometimes factor in intangibles that hold special more personal meanings which aren''t readily acquire via time served in office.

When I said the path to victory for Dems would be to fire Biden and replace him with Hillary, it was totally on that level of winning as opposed to merit - life''s funny that way . . . :o

This "personality over issues" tactic is getting a bit STALE with me and I''d say about 80 percent of the public that AREN''T Jerry SPRINGER fans.

Palin HAS NOTHING IN COMMON with HILLARY (except gender)

- "SHE AIN''T NO HILLARY" but the CONS keep trying to CONVINCE THE GULLIBLE that this "Trojan Horse" IN A "HILLARY PANTSUIT" the CONS USED TO MOCK is Hillary in "GOP DRAG"!

"Pitt Bull" or "Barracuda" or whatever "NAME OF the BEAST" she''s CLAIMING to be THIS WEEK is an Armageddon waiting to happen.

CONS USING "EMOTIONAL TRIGGERS" aimed at females IS the MOST CYNICAL, PATRONIZING GARBAGE I''ve seen out of them YET!

In the MEANTIME, their CAMPAIGN PUPPETEERS OPENLY ADMIT they''re pushing "personality over ISSUES" to FOOL the voters AGAIN!!

So which is it?

An ADULT DISCUSSION OF ISSUES and SOLUTIONS

BEFORE this nation is DESTROYED by GREED and INCOMPETENT "ME FIRST" over the "COMMON GOOD" NEO-CONS CUNNINGLY DRESSED-UP as "REFORMERS"

or SCHOOLYARD HORMONAL,
ADOLESCENT "POPULARITY CONTESTS" with the BELGIUM CORPORATE OWNED, TOP OF THE WEALTH GAP, 7 or 10 multi-million dollar houses, "BIG MAN ON CAMPUS" and his PROM "QUEEN BEE"!
