McCain Makes An Appearance On Biden's Plane (Sort of)

(CBS)
(WILMINGTON, DEL.) - "Can I get you anything sir?" asked a flight attendant, as John McCain sits, staring ahead and silent, aboard Joseph Biden's campaign plane. "No?"
No time for the "straight-talk" he's known for, McCain sat motionless as Biden staff members texted on their Blackberrys and members of the press filed as they prepare to take off for Kalispell, Montana.
McCain had nothing audible to share, was without Secret Service, and was missing a dimension.
That's because he's made of cardboard.
Members of the press have put a life-size paper stand up of McCain's likeness in row 16, seat F of the plane that carrys Barack Obama's running-mate around the country.
Purchased in a shopping mall music store for $30, Cardboard McCain made his debut in the coach area.
While some see it as amusing, it also serves a reminder that there is another politician outside the Obama/Biden bubble.
Biden spokesman David Wade, not on board as Cardboard McCain was unveiled this morning, had already received news of his presence and sent out an email to members of the national press corps.
"I hear a cardboard cut-out of John McCain is seated comfortably in row 16 of Air Biden." wrote Wade.
"You realize you could've made history: [if] you'd found a cardboard cut-out of Governor Palin, that's the closest she would've been to taking tough questions from the national media since she was selected. Then again, I guess the Republicans are continuing their recent history of keeping their vice presidential picks in secure, undisclosed locations. Yet another way that McCain-Palin is more of the same."
Cardboard McCain, grinning and mute, paid no attention.

Some folks wrongly think that being a woman she will moderate or help turn McCain around from his opposition to equal pay to women. Like this statement one Dave from Baltimore, posted on another site:%u201DI hope Palin breaks with McCain on equal pay for equal work - it would pave the way to a better future for her four children and grandson.%u201D
Are you kidding me?!!! Gov. Palin is even more hardcore in her opposition to equal pay for WOMEN, than is McCain. Sarah Palin believes that women must be paid LESS than men - no ifs and buts about it. Period.

Palin will be interviewed by Bob Schieffer (Farce The Nation), who will lob her the same slow softballs he gave is LONGTIME FRIEND John McCain today.
Disgusting how Schieffer turned the entire 1/2 hour into a 1/2 hour campaign commercial for McCain. I mean, Schieffer actually said a number of times "You and I believe...." Every question was a setup. At one point McCain said, "I know that (Schieffer) will ask about that later, so I''ll wait to discuss that issue when you ask it."
Not a SINGLE tough question. Just a McCain love fest. Liberal media my a**. That''s just a Red Herring to try and shut down actual questioning of the failed 8 years of Republican rule.
So expect Palin to show up on FOX and the "Bob Schieffer Show", but nowhere else.
You need to have a sense of humor. I think it is brilliant. It makes the point very nicely - Palin is avoiding the press. What is she hiding? The fact she is more of the same, or maybe even less. And, the American people deserve better from someone who could be President anytime, should McCain be elected.
I think it a bit condescending for McCain, Palin and the Republicans to suggest that the press is beneath them. I mean, that seems a bit elitist - don''t you think? A bit anti democracy and freedom. I suppose she is free to hide if she likes. Maybe she is looking for Bin Laden.
