Philly Mayor Gets Irate Over Palin, McCain Speeches

(PHILADELPHIA) Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter boiled over with contempt, directed at Republicans, as he introduced Sen. Joe Biden in at the Ironworkers Union Local 401 Hall today in Pennsylvania.

"I was astounded, astounded at what I saw at the Repulsive National Convention on Wednesday night, at the RNC between Giuliani and Governor Palin," said the mayor.

"Insults have now replaced ideas. Invective has now replaced innovation. Personal attacks have now replaced policy addresses. I have never seen such a negative climate in this country as we saw Wednesday night. And then the other guy had the audacity last night to start talking about partisanship and people working together. We're going to bring folks together. Not one idea, not one proposal. Not anything that effects anybody in this room! Not a word! Not a word!"

Mayor Nutter shouted angrily and pounded on the podium before a crowd of around a hundred laborers, attacking Gov. Palin's assessment of Sen. Barack Obama's resume as a being that of a "community organizer".

"And so I guess when you've got a light bench, when you have no real team, you spend all your time attacking the other folks. Community organizer has now somehow become a negative thing. Well you know, I think Martin Luther King, Jr. was a community organizer in his words, in his way. I think Town Watch leaders are community organizers! I think PTA persons, people who join the PTA are community organizers...I think elected officials are community organizers! I happen to think that union people are community organizers!"

"And then they have the audacity, the audacity in this day and age.... In the United States of America we rank twenty-first in education around the world, and now you're going to attack Sen. Barack Obama because he had the opportunity to go to college, go to law school, to make something of himself, to be a productive person in society? And now we're going to criticize folks for advancing themselves, working hard, and being a productive American. And you want to lead this country somewhere? Are you serious?"

Sen. Joe Biden, Obama's pick for vice president, campaigns today in Pennsylvania with Mayor Nutter, Rep. Bob Brady (D-PA) and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell.

by scarpo69 September 7, 2008 1:39 PM EDT: Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., a Democratic Presidential candidate, was accused of plagiarism while in his first year at Syracuse University Law School, academic officials familiar with Mr. Biden''s record said today. [....]

According to the people familiar with the record of the 44-year-old Senator from Delaware, he was called before the disciplinary body at the law school during his first year because of charges that he had committed plagiarism on a paper. Mr. Biden entered the school in 1965 and graduated in 1968.

CBS News tonight quoted an aide to Mr. Biden as saying he had been exonerated. However, an academic official said Mr. Biden had been found guilty, "threw himself on the mercy of the board" and promised not to repeat the offense. This, according to the official, persuaded the board to drop the matter and allow Mr. Biden to remain in law school. Mr. Biden''s office declined to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case, saying the Senator had insisted on handling the matter himself at the news conference. [....]

Unsurprisingly, the New York Times article actually downplays the Kinnock plagiarism. For Mr. Biden didn%u2019t just plagiarize his words, he plagiarized his life.

The neanderthal from the tiny state of Delaware? How many peple are in that state ... 12? Joe Biden, the CAREER inside-the-beltway pol from the good-ole-but network? Thats change? Obama is not a candidate who has any credibility other than getting a lot of people who will commit to words like "Change" and "Hope" while having no idea what kind of change might happen under Obama, or what kind of "Hope" he envisions? Who knows where that will lead?; Reply to this comment

Going by Obama''s past associations with people who are criminals and people who are interested in making money from the world, using the U.S. as a starting off point, I have to wonder if all of the politicians are just hoping to follow the money that has carried Obama for the past 20 years, while he has never really worked for any of his jobs. As a community organizer he raised money and votes to get himself in office. As a lawyer, he wrote a book and worked 5 hours as a lawyer. As a senator in Illinois he was in the bathroom, present, or not available when he was called on as a Senator to help his people in his area.; Reply to this comment

Then he redrew the district to cut out the poor areas of his district. Then as a U.S. Senator, he ran for president. He never held a meeting even when he was given a committee. He never wrote any laws, but took them from others then he was given them to make it look like he had input into making a law. He is the empty suit as far as building any credentials or background, and worse, he is a Trojan Horse, who is bought and paid for by Soros, Rezko, Ayers.; Reply to this comment

Do not condemn him for philly''s failures; he is the most positive thing to happen here since Rendell. Obama was a community organizer right after he got his law degree. He''s 47 now. He''s a Harvard law school grad, editor of harvard law review, a lawyer, a state legislator, and a senator. Obama is smart, articulate, mature and represents the whole population not just the financial elite. That is why people support him.; Reply to this comment

by karenleepa September 6, 2008 5:18 AM EDT: As a resident of Philadelphia, I''m insulted that our mayor decided to represent our city the way he has. I voted for Nutter, so it''s double disappointing. I had not tagged Nutter as a whiney Democrat, more disappointment.

The conventions and their speeches are for that party''s base to ramp up and get ready for the big battle ahead.
