Romney, Huckabee Show Their Support For McCain

(O'FALLON, MO.) - In an effort to bring the disparate part of the Republican Party together, John McCain and Sarah Palin appeared with former Republican contenders Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee at a rally in this conservative stronghold outside St. Louis.

Huckabee and Romney spoke first, intoducing McCain and complimenting him on his choice of Palin, who's job as McCain's running mate they both coveted. McCain thanked them and said they both will play large roles in the future of the Republican Party.

"I'm proud to share th stage with two great governors and two great competitors," McCain said.

He then spoke about the need to keep the people of the Gulf Coast in their thoughts, trying to erase the memory many have of the Bush administration's response to Katrina three years ago.

"This natural emergency is the first concern of all Americans," McCain said. "I'm encouraged by the level of preparedness."

Earlier today, McCain toured a hurricane response center in Pearl, Mississippi, an area that was devastated by Katrina.

Palin also spoke about the government's reaction to Katrina, saying that the suffering there was a "harsh reminder" of what happens when the government fails to fulfill its obligations.

"They need to know that government at every level is ready for the worst," she said about the residents in Hurrican Gustav's path. "A crisis on this scale can bring out the best of our country."

Huckabee will never win the Republican Nomination. He can''t pull the West. The West knows when he is just using the religion card. Unfortunately the South doesn''t look at the candidate for what he believes in and how they lead. They look at the candidate to be "their" religion. The only thing Huckabee is going to do is prevent some other Social Conservative from winning and allow another middle of the road Republican to win.
Huckabee ran one of the most despicable campaigns and then claimed he was the only one running a positive campaign. We all know that was a lie.
From Michigan where Huckabee lost big time because we know a fake.

All of the weight Huckabee lost went between his ears. His behavior on the campaign trail was shameful - disparaging Romney at every turn, kissing up to McCain to glorify himself, and then hanging on in the primaries until he was a laughing embarassment.

Huckabee''s major gaffe/joke about somebody shooting Obama was the straw that broke the camel''s back. Add his unrelenting stabs at Romney until the day before McCain announced his VP pic - what a pathetic pastor-boy slime ball.

Huckabee a role model? With all the insults he made of Romney, and the childish and rude way he acted, if you think he is a model of a good Christian, then which bible have you been reading? If being a bigot is a role model, then we are in big trouble.

I am definitely a Huckabee supporter and fan. He is a role model for ALL Americans, a strong, principled and visionary leader with the ability to deliver what Obama only promised (vertical politics, unity and a better country). McCain/Palin ''08---Mike Huckabee--- the future of the Republican Party....

I am definitely a Huckabee supporter and fan. He is a role model for all of America and someone we can look to for leadership and vision. I support the McCain ticket and the republican win, but Huckabee has the ideas to ACTUALLY deliver on what Obama has promised (unity, vertical politics, a better country. McCain/Palin ''08....Mike Huckabee the future of the Republican Party...
