First Things First With John McCain

From CBS News' Ryan Corsaro:

(ERIE, PA.) - Asked what he would do in his first 90 days in office, John McCain told employees of a locomotive manufacturing plant that he would explain his first priority as president. And he did. Four different ways.

1.) Humorously: "Call (former Pennsylvania governor) Tom Ridge to Washington from whatever vacation he's taking... and get him to work." Ridge appeared with McCain today and is rumored to be on McCain's list of possible running mates;

2.) Obligatory: "The president's first obligation is to ensure the nation is safe and that means getting a national security team together, look at the challenges we are facing, if and you need any more affirmation that we live in a dangerous world my friends, look at the events that are transpiring in Georgia. To make sure this nation is safe, that's the first priority of any president";

3.) Fundamentally: "One fundamental mission: restore trust and confidence in government. Therefore, inspire confidence in America again";

4.) Obviously: "Obviously, our first priority has got to be to restore our economy. As I said before, jobs and jobs and jobs and jobs, That to me is our greatest priority."

As for the rest of his speech, it focused on new technology and its role in developing new and less expensive forms of energy. In regards to energy independence, he said that his choice of whether to pursue wind, solar, nuclear, coal, or natural gas would be "all of the above".

McCain made a push for the development of the expensive process of clean coal technology, saying the cost would come down with the growth of its use, and compared it to the drop in price of a cell phone cost over the past two decades.

He called for offshore drilling as a means to help America with rising gas costs as it makes its transition to alternative energy sources.

"By golly, we ought to start going out and getting it as soon as possible," said McCain at the General Electric Transportation plant here.

Unlike his last few days on the trail, McCain made no mention of Barack Obama, who is on vacation in Hawaii this week.

ECONOMY CLASS 101 %u2013 Prices of any industry are solely controlled by the laws of supply and demand. Demand in America will not change that much because my truck does not run on WIND POWER or the AIR PRESSURE from MY TIRES, so then if we want prices to drop then we need to have an affect on SUPPLY!!! I will break it down for the less intelligent%u2026..WE Need to get oil from elsewhere like OUR COUNTRY which will increase the SUPPLY of the oil markets which will then DECREASE OUR DEMAND FOR OVERSEAS OIL. THIS MEANS THE PRICE WILL DROP !!!!!! that was fun wasn%u2019t it, learning should be fun

It is saddening to read how dumb my fellow Americans are and out of touch with reality. You criticize McCain on issues that Oboma has done the exact same thing! such as: (except donations from oil companies) (don%u2019t get me started on switching positions because Oboma has changed his stance on more critical issues than any candidate I have ever seen!!!! ) (TO they person who mentioned Illegal Immigrants have you listened to OBOMAS SPEECH at a campaigning rally in I believe Texas where most of his audience was Hispanic??? He told them that Americans should learn how to speak Spanish and that wouldn%u2019t we all what our children to be Bilingual? ) Im sorry but my father is from Cuba and immigrated to this country Legally before Castro took office and when he stepped on to America from the airplane there was no SPANISH BUTTON for getting through everyday life. And I will end by saying this on the Oil Situation that our country faces. Oboma%u2019s plan to tax the revenue on oil companies has no way but to negatively affect the price at the pump DUH!! Where do you think the oil companies are going to make up that loss. It is not the oil companies in America that control Oil prices it%u2019s OPEC and the oil speculators that control prices.

mcbush''s experience is complicity in helping cause the problems we face, now. The once proud maverick has become bush''s nag pulling the bush policy wagon.

Hmmmmm, would that be the same Tom Ridge that admitted the color coded terror threat chart was being manipulated for political reasons?

McCain admits he doesn''t use computers, but he keeps saying technology is the solution to our problems.

Didn''t McCain learn anything from 8 years of Bush and Cheney telling us to do as they say and not as they do?
