Hillary Fills In As Obama Family Says "Aloha" To Hawaii

(CHICAGO) As Barack Obama heads home to Hawaii for a week-long vacation with his family, his former opponent, Hillary Clinton, will spend a little time campaigning.

Amidst rumors of lingering tensions between the Clintons and Obama, she heads to Nevada where she will appear at a rally in Henderson later today.

"Senator Clinton did very well in Nevada in the primaries," Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro explained, "She's one of the most effective campaigners this country has seen."

This is the first time that Clinton will be campaigning for Obama solo. She will also appear at a fundraiser in Florida on Obama's behalf later this month.

Obama spent Thursday evening running last-minute errands in Chicago in preparation for his vacation, which he says is well deserved.

"We had the longest primary in history," Obama said later adding, "John McCain got one."

He went shopping at Bloomingdales before heading to his Hyde Park barbershop followed by a 70-minute session at the gym. He is now en route to Hawaii and is expected to touch down in Honolulu around mid-afternoon Hawaii time.

Even though Obama said he hopes to give voters a break from politics, he will be campaigning immediately upon arrival in Honolulu. The campaign has organized a welcome rally at a local park as well as a round robin of interviews. He is also expected to attend a fundraiser next week.

Obama's vacation will include mostly downtime, though. Other than enjoying the beach and watching the Olympics, he will spend some time with his grandmother, who helped raise him in Honolulu in the 1970s.

"I want to make sure that I'm spending time with her on a consistent basis and so that she could see her great grandchildren," he said yesterday.

Since Obama has been so successful and has so much support it must really get under all you republican morons skin. I am so proud of Senator Obama for being a wonderful candidate and a much more worthy candidate than any republican could ever be. Senator Obama can have a vacation anytime he wants and anywhere he wants. Since he grew up in Hawaii it is terrific for him to get some rest and visit his grandmother and friends. Knowing Senator Obama will be our next president is so comforting after the horrid failings of all the republicans in government. The president on down were against the middle class and poor. All they did was give away as much money as possible to the richest people and the richest corporations, especially the oil industry.; Reply to this comment

In the last session of the Illinois legislature in which he served, he voted "No" against legislation that would have banned "abortion" of babies that had completed birth. Read that again. We''re not talking about pre-birth abortion. We''re not talking about partial birth abortion where they did out a baby''s brains while it is being borh. We are talking about killing it after it is born.

When they did this in the middle ages, it was called infanticide. The last I heard, the civilized world was horrified to think it had ever occurred. Yet Obama voted to allow it to be legal in Illinois.

I think you people who support him need to find out some more about him. I think we all do. And I don''t think we''re going to get it from the New York media. Their minds appear to be like a steel trap - rusted shut.; Reply to this comment

Obama is a socialist who intends to redistribute wealth based upon his personal idea of "fairness." by endofbones August 8, 2008 9:00 PM EDT: The only reason why Obama is going to Hawaii is because people in Hawaii were and are upset that Ralph Nader came to hawaii and talked about real issues and Obama had no plans to come to hawaii because he assumed that this state would vote for him no matter what.

He grew up in hawaii with his wealthy white grandparents and attended the Punahoe School which is the wealthiest private school in the nation. They lobby against increasing public school funding in Hawaii- the state with teh worst public education system in the nation and they get millions of dollars in corporate handouts from the Hawaii state government.

I just hope someone asks him how he would work in improve the public school system in hawaii (Which he knows nothing about) or ask him how the millions of dollars in campaign contributions from UBS (solely responsible for housing crisis), and Excelon (huge ethanol production company.) will affect his ability to unbiased deceisions on these issues.

Watch him sidestep, overgeneralize, and completely avoid the question.

And anyone who thinks "whites will lose control" if obama is elected has lost their mind, its not about whites in control its about corporations in control, if either McCain or Obama gets elected the corporations and rich weathly elite gain futher control of our country; Reply to this comment
