GOP Tries Taking Air Out of Obama's Message

(CBS)
(PHILADELPHIA) – The humor offensive against Barack Obama continues by John McCain and the Republican Party today.
On the flight from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, McCain senior adviser Mark Salter handed out tire gauges to the press emblazoned with "Obama's Energy Plan."

(CBS)
It's a jab McCain has been making over the past few days as a rebuttal to Barack Obama's suggestion at a town hall in Springfield, Missouri, last week.
"There are things that you can do individually though to save energy; making sure your tires are properly inflated, simple thing, but we could save all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling, if everybody was just inflating their tires and getting regular tune-ups,' Obama said. "You could actually save just as much."
McCain counters that offshore drilling is necessary to counter the effects of rising energy costs. "We need oil drilling and we need it now offshore,' McCain said last Friday. "The only thing I've heard him say is that we should inflate our tires. So he has no plan for addressing the energy challenges that we face."
While Salter passed out the gauges out on the campaign plane, the Republican National Committee will be handing them out at Obama's energy speech this morning in Lansing, Michigan.
