From CBS News' John Bentley:

(COLUMBUS, OHIO) – While Barack Obama was greeted by 200,000 Germans chanting "Yes we can" in Berlin, John McCain was greeting a few dozen people at a German restaurant here in Ohio.

"I'd love to give a speech in Germany – a political speech – or a speech that maybe the German people would be interested in," McCain said at Schmidt's Restaurant und Sausage Haus.

"But I would much prefer to do it as president of the United States rather than as a candidate for the office of the presidency."

Before his speech today, Obama said he was concerned about the rhetoric McCain has been using recently to differentiate their positions on the Iraq war by saying Obama "would rather lose a war than lose an election."

"I was disappointed by that language," Obama said on the NBC Nightly News. "I've never questioned that he wants to make America safer. And for him to suggest that I don't – for him to suggest that somehow I'm less concerned about the safety of my wife and daughter than he is I think, was unfortunate."

McCain responded today that Obama was missing the point. "All of us care about our children, I am sure that every American does," he said. "The point is that Sen. Obama doesn't have an understanding of what was at stake with the surge, what is at stake in the future for the security of this nation. I stand by my comments and I think the record authenticates it."

CBS4me3...I see your whine about Obama in Germany and I raise you;

Does McCain not understand that Canadians and Columbians will not be voting this November!

Oh, but McCain''s trips were different...

You know, it''s astounding how utterly predictable your childish logic and whining is. At first you whine that Obama has no foreign policy experience to speak of and that he needs to go to Iraq to see the progress...so he goes abroad and then you whine about him being abroad.

This type of damned if you do, damned if you don''t BS just proves what clowns half of you modern day Republicans are. If you were real Republicans with real balls and scruples and principles you''d actually stand for something. Instead you constantly change your opinions and flip flop your ideals around purely on the basis of party affiliation. Ie, when a Democrat does something it''s always bad and when a Republican does something it''s always good, even when it''s the exact same thing. Genius!

And these people in Ohio will be voting in November. Does Obama not understand that the people of Germany will not be voting in November? He probably has plans already to take this to the Supreme Court. Oh well, the Obamapalooza is about over; John and his silent majority patiently await November, and this Hillary Democrat will be joining with that majority.

McInsane, thanks for the link. Katie doesn''t do the editing so it''s not her fault. However, CBS is obviously trying to protect ol John from a controversy that would make him look like either an old fool, a liar... or both. McCain has a history of fudging on the truth to support his positions and it''s unfortunate that the "liberal" media is leaning over backward to avoid reporting on it. Fortunately some of us have the internet to see what a lying old bungler McCain really is.

Does Katie Couric deserve to be fired for substituting a John McCain answer? Even if you are a Katie Couric fan, you have to be appalled at her latest "journalism" escapade: censoring an interview with John McCain, removing an answer that made McCain look extremely foolish on Iraq and substituting a different answer.
