Obama Heads to North Dakota
(CBS)
(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) Barack Obama journeys into Republican territory today, as he continues his effort to turn red states blue this fall. He heads to North Dakota after a day of campaigning in Colorado, another former GOP strong hold. This is part of 50 state strategy devised by campaign manager, David Plouffe, to put as many states into play as possible, despite how they have voted in the past.
North Dakota has not voted Democratic in a presidential election since 1964, when Lyndon Johnson won in a landslide victory. However, with the support of popular Senators Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad, the campaign hopes turn this around.
Today, Obama will speak to veterans in Fargo as part of his American values tour this week. He will celebrate the 4th of July with a campaign stop in Montana.
