Obama Highlights National Service

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) Barack Obama used the impending Fourth of July holiday today as a backdrop to highlight his national service plan, which includes expanding AmeriCorps and doubling the size of the Peace Corps.

"Loving your country shouldn't just mean watching fireworks on the 4th of July," Obama said at the University of Colorado. "Loving your country must mean accepting your responsibility to do your part to change it. If you do, your life will be richer, and our country will be stronger."

Today's speech was part of a week-long effort to highlight Obama's values and biography. A campaign aide said the speeches underscore what makes up Obama's "moral compass."

Obama also spoke about September 11th at greater length today, recounting where he was on the day of the attacks. He was deeply critical of the Bush's policies after 9/11, criticizing the Administration for not using the attacks to inspire American's to serve.

"Instead of a call to service, we were asked to go shopping. Instead of a call for shared sacrifice, we gave tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans in a time of war for the very first time in our history," Obama said. "Instead of leadership that called us to come together, we got patriotism defined as the property of one party, and used as a political wedge to take us into a war that should have never been authorized and never been waged."

WE DIDN''T see the Archbishop of Canterbury at Sen. Barack Obama''s rally in Unity last Friday. Apparently he was there in spirit, though.

Archbishop Rowan Williams, leader of the Anglican Church, this week called for unity in the congregation after conservative bishops on Sunday threatened to create a separate council of bishops. They are fed up with the church''s liberal leanings, especially its promotion of homosexual behavior as acceptable for the clergy.

This all started, you might recall, when the Episcopal Church made openly gay pastor Gene Robinson bishop of New Hampshire. The split this has created in the church is threatening to rip it apart (as Robinson knew it would).

Like Sen. Obama, Archbishop Williams has pushed for controversial change, and now is calling for unity. And like Sen. Obama, what he means by "unity" is that everyone falls in line with his agenda.

Ever notice that liberals have no use for unity when they''re pushing all that change, but as soon as they get what they want they discover the value of togetherness?

He''s beating himself. He''s got Clark following him! and I''ll bet Obama did go shopping at some point shortly after 911.
Senator Obama. serve the USA and lead Hillary right to Canada or France, and stay there!you wont have to lecture them on socialistic schemes. They are way ahead of you. You''ll be happy there!

Ubama hasn''t got he ''chops'' to slam anybody on leadership. I think the only thing he''s led is a march down a Chicago street with a bullhorn. And nobody paid attention.

The harsh statements by Obama criticizing President Bush
about his handling of the tragic events of September 11th startles me.

Obama%u2019s first attack is always criticism without properly doing any research to back up his statements.

President Bush has been commended for the way he carried the country after the tragic events of that day. His reelection proves that Americans approved of his actions and he helped the country to stand strong and move on past the sorrows of that day.

One of my wise professors once said, %u201CWhen people criticize others and put them down, it is only because they want to lift up themselves." A President should %u201Cbuild up%u201D and not %u201Cput down%u201D. That is why Obama is not my choice!

Dear Senator Obama, Let''s see if you mean what you say. I put a Presidential challenge/test on YouTube for you and I want you people reading this to call his office and get him to answer the challenge to prove he is worthy to be our President. Go to YouTube and type in the word ''anonbene'' in the search box and follow the advice. There could be a free house in it for you even if he fails to live up to his rhetoric.

So what if the people with more money have sacrificed, saved and worked their azzes off and the people with less money have been foolhardy, reckless and irresponsible.

This disgusting little Nazi doesn''t give a hoot that the nation is in the krapper! Doesn''t give a hoot that the "War on Terror" has been completely mismanaged. Doesn''t give a Hoot what we average joes are going through... NOPE. THE "Party" has to be protected because of his fear that HE may have to pay a dollar more in taxes! Barack Obama was born of Communist activists, mentored by a communist writer and activist, spent his college days hanging around radical activists, worked as a radical community organizer learning the radical tactics of Alinsky, kept contact with radicals through the years, attends a radical church, and today lends his political skill to the international goals of radical activists, and has radicals working on for his campaign.

Obama is radical liberal pretending to be in the middle and promising Change he has no business doing- since he is not experianced in so many areas of life nor a true patriot, and for those who support a church going elitist hating the USA for 20 years Obama is nothing more than a REAL hypocrit. If you worked hard all your life and happen to be rich you SHOULD NOT be obligated to give to the poor, as he wants, the poor need to work hard, too, like the rest of us. You might not get rich, but you need to live with true American standards.
