McCain Discusses The Issue of Gay Marriage With Ellen

John McCain heads to California today to meet with voters and raise some money. He has two rallies planned in the northern part of the state, one in Stockton and one in Union City. He'll be speaking at Finelite, Inc., in Union City, a lighting company where he will keep with his theme of improving America's competitiveness in the global economy. He'll also hold fundraisers in Stockton and Atherton.

If your travel plans don't include northern California, McCain will also be making an appearance on the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this afternoon. The openly gay talk show host has announced her intention to marry her girlfriend, an issue on which she and McCain disagree. In excerpts released by the show, McCain says he's heard her "articulate that position in a very eloquent fashion. We just have a disagreement. And I, along with many, many others, wish you every happiness."

"So, you'll walk me down the aisle? Is that what you're saying?" she asked.

"Touch?," McCain said.

McCain said same-sex couples should be allowed to enter into legal agreements for insurance and other purposes, but he opposes gay marriage and believes in "the unique status of marriage between a man and a woman."

John Leberman was at the (A pac or O pac) Summit with John Hagee,Leberman called him "The Moses of our time".Not knowing that Hagee''''''''s support of Israel is the ushering in of their annihilation.And their belief of the second coming of Jesus Christ/ (the rapture).It''''''''s not because Hagee has a deep hearted love of the Jewish people,it is only to fulfill prophecy and convert them to Christianity.

Ron Parsley is the other disciple of John Hagee,(to whom McCain has not rejected) spewing out mouthfuls of hate with passion and conviction.And the media wants to focus on Rev.Wright?-(absurd)!
Please, Let''''''''s be real, and take a closer look at the true meaning behind Hagee & Parsleys'''''''' sermons.What do these 2 individuals tell us about John McCain?

Homosexuality doesn''t affect anyone except for those life partners that want a legal civil union. Voting for a Republican will have no effect on the American individual choice of partnerships. It''s the same thing over again, Republicans can''t stand on their results, they have to create issues where there aren''t any. Homosexuality is a non-issue.

So, accepting gay marriage affects the economy and in the end, we all pay for that. And that interferes with the greater majority''s search for life, liberty and happiness.

To continue the discussion about why there shouldn''t be gay marriage, I just see heterosexual marriages being better for the economy than same *** "marriages" in terms of developing culture over coming years/decades/centuries. Gayness is in itself a dead end argument. It gives nothing to anyone--just sucks the life out of everyone else while it pleads to be recognized. I feel for those born as hermamphrodites (sp?), but life is simply not fair sometimes. That''s just reality. But life is large enough to overcome such hardship.

Whenever I read posts like those above, it almost always clear that people don''t really hear the argument. I think McCain''s views are quite balanced. If gay people want to have a union recognized for legal and insurance reasons, but there truly is an inherent difference between the family contributions of those who can make babies. Sorry, that''s just reality. I don''t mean anyone who is gay any harm and I wish them happiness, but there is a natural fit between men and women that does work out for most people. This old rhetoric about these old Republicans is hogwash and an excuse for gay supporters to act like they are doing the loving thing by supporting gay marriage. These arguments for gay rights are far more lifeless and tiring than the life given nature of a mother and father raising kids. There is just no comparison. Being direct about this is truly the most progressive argument.

For those of you who believe tolerance of same-*** marriage is forcing other people''s beliefs on you, it isn''t. Your rights aren''t being diminished whatsoever. Your life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness aren''t affected. (You might have been under the misapprehension that this ruling means that you have to marry someone of the same ***. Rest assured, it does not.)

Finally, if you''re still in a twist over this, consider what your life will be like now that two people of the same *** can be married. Nothing will change for you - not a thing... except that maybe you''ll see a few more people with wedding bands and you might see fewer demonstrations over the issue. It''s not exactly the end of civilization. Equality is civilized.

In what way does her marriage infringe on his life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness? Religious arguments hold no sway in a secular government such as ours. After all, a Jew can marry a Muslim, an atheist can marry a Hindu, etc. The arguments we hear today against same-*** marriage are reiterations of the arguments against inter-racial marriage. The preferences and bigotry of a majority do not constitute a justification for abbrogation of minority rights. We live in a society with a negatively defined social contract - i.e., you can do whatever you want, except what is against the law. (This is as opposed to a positively defined contract in which you can only do that which the government allows you to do by law.) Thus, in our form of government, two people of the same *** can get married unless it is outlawed... and it is therefore nonsensical to talk about the "legalization" of same-*** marriage or to discuss it as though same-*** marriages require a legislative change. (It''s the other way around.)
