Obama to Respond to Bush Accusation

From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

CHICAGO -- Barack Obama is expected to respond to President Bush's "appeasement" accusations today while campaigning in South Dakota. Yesterday, Bush likened those who are willing to negotiate with rogue leaders to Nazi appeasers in a speech given at the Israeli Knesset. Although the Bush administration denies that the President was referring specifically to Obama, he and his campaign were quick to interpret it that way.

At a closed fundraiser in Chicago last night, Obama referred to Bush's criticism in the broader context of Republican attacks. "We're going to not only have to fight the Republicans, and all the nonsense that is going to be coming out of them – and I am impressed with the degree with which it has started coming out very quickly," Obama said.

Obama went on to criticize "the kind of politics we just saw today," and said he and his wife, Michelle, have been "battered, bruised and buffeted" on the campaign trail. "Knowing we've got good friends, strong supporters; knowing we've got a city we belong to, makes all the difference in the world," he said.

Today will be Obama's first full day of campaigning in South Dakota, and he'll be joined on the trail by former Democratic presidential nominee George McGovern and former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle. The state's primary is on June 3rd and offers 23 pledged delegates.

Bush may find his Hitler remarks backfiring on him considering his own well documented family history of appeasement, support and money laundering for Hitler:

There is no question that Bush and his dad''s friends conspired to raise the price of oil. I do not think even they thought that they could quadruple it in 5 years.

The cost of oil futures have been sky rocketing due to the United States occupation of Iraq, and the further threat of military confrontation with Iran.

Bush is driving the price you and I pay at the pump, and everything else that needs to be transported. The Republicans have imposed an invisible tax on all Americans.

This is a real issue that needs to be addressed and alleviated, but Republicans only want to distract from their agenda by attacking people personally with non related issues.

This is too funny! Libs can go overseas and say whatever they want about the war, Bush repubicans, our troops.....but let Bush make a valid point and democrats foam at the mouth!

Must be a case of ''democrats'' chickens coming home to roost.''

Typical response from a richard cranium with no areguement, attack the person with a legit arguement.

You and a pet goat, that pretty much says it all. You going to push to make a "marriage" between the two of you legal next?

Bush''''s comments were definitely targeted at Obama and to claim otherwise is lying and cowardice. Republicans are sleazy and will say anything without a conscience.

Are you saying only the GOP will slime someone who opposes them? Isnt that what you are doing right here. Hypocrite.

Obama is whining that he and his wife have been battered and bruised, what a whiner. What do you expect, people to just accept your anti-American beliefs without question?
