McCain Returns to Campaign Trail Next Week

(CBS)
John McCain returns from his international voyage this weekend and will return to the campaign trail next week, mostly for fund-raisers. However, on Wednesday he will address the issue that has defined his campaign: the war in Iraq.
With reports of almost 4,000 American troops killed since the war began five years ago, McCain will include his assessment of the conditions on the ground following his visit there earlier this week as he attempts to convince a weary American public that the war can be won.
McCain has spent the last week traveling the Middle East and Europe with fellow Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. They visited Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Britain and France.
His campaign originally asserted his excursion was not a campaign event, however he did hold a fund-raiser in London yesterday. McCain campaign communications director Jill Hazelbaker said taxpayers will be reimbursed for the campaign portion of the trip.
