Clinton Asks Texas Voters to Vote Twice

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

DALLAS -- Hillary Clinton made her way to here with one simple message: to get supporters to vote early and to vote twice. Voting in Texas doesn't come easy. For one, Texas Democrats hold both a primary and a caucus, and in order to secure as many delegates as possible, Clinton needs her supporters to vote in both, which may seem like a lot to ask.

During a chilly outdoor rally Clinton tried her best to explain how the process works. "Some of you may not have heard that there are two elections which you have to participate in. You know, there is a primary on March the 4th, in which you can vote early until February 29th or vote on March 4th. But then I need you to go back on the evening of March 4th to the convention in order to stand up for me." Clinton added that if voters stand up for her, she will fight for them everyday in the White House.

Clinton spoke for about 20 minutes and in that time Clinton managed to knock her opponent on health care and his experience. "There are real differnces in this campaign," Clinton said claiming that Senator Obama's health care plan leaves out 15 million people.

"I am very committed to working with you to create the kind of political change that will actually produce results," said Clinton adding, "I do want to turn hope into reality, promises into practice and words into action."

On the way to the event site, a Dallas Police officer on a motorcycle guiding Clinton's motorcade crashed and died. As the press bus approached the scene, the officer lay face down in a pool of blood, the motorcycle was torn to pieces. Following the rally Clinton gave the following statement to reporters:

"I have just learned of the death of a Dallas police officer in a devastating accident that occurred as the motorcycle officers were leading out cars to this site. We are just heartsick over this loss of life in the line of duty."

"This reminds us once again what our men and women in law enforcement do every single day and it is important that we respect and appreciate their service."

Out of respect for the fallen officer, Clinton cancelled her afternoon rally in Fort Worth, and will make a quick stop to meet with the officer's family before leaving for Ohio.

And you forgot to mention that Obama first asked and gave complete instructions to his audience several nights before Hillary to a stadium audience how to vote twice for him.

If you think Hillary has done nothing in her 35 years in office then Obama must really have done NOTHING! Her health care saved me when I was a single mother, CHIP. When she says she cares about the middle class and their families she means it. I think Obama supporters need to look at the issues and stop letting his salesman qualities buy him the president seaT and let let actions speak louder then his words or other peoples words. I should say.
I don''t want politics to be played on day one. I want it to be enforced. Hillary can do just that, ready on day one.

Bill is her husband. We all know he did not mind. She did not say it word for word. They was a difference between the Edwards speech and hers. And I am sure Edwards said it was okay for Hillary to use them, since they are such good friends. They have been talking a lot lately.

Is this a private media organisation for Hillary Clinton? Seems so to me.

Please try and give fair and balanced reports.

Last night during that debate both candidates were given a chance to say something truly inspirational. The time came at the very end of the debate. When Hillary chose to talk about a touching story where she said the crises she has faced are nothing compared to those of American citizens, and Obama chose to give a lame answer patting himself on the back. That was a real reminder to me that Hillary''s in this for American people. Obama is in this for himself.

People keep promoting this universal health care as a good deal. Wrong! Once health care becomes "from the government", they will control health care. It will become one more way to control people. Do you know who funds the American Medical Association, who gave it it''s start? It is the same people who own the text book publishing houses, the same ones who own the museums. They are controlling your lives. Do NOT give them more control.

If it is legal to vote in a caucus and then the primary, I see no reason not to. Caucuses are different and everyone should vote in primaries.

Hillary dominated the debate last night while Obama just kept saying I''ll have what she is having and doodled away. No matter what she does the Obamacans criticize. Both candidates are educating the voters, are you not on Obama''s mailing list? He is trying to fly in campaign workers. Hillary Clinton is the best person to lead this country.

Texas is a big state and the stakes are high. I''m sure Obama is urging his voters to do the same. Seems to me this is one of those What''s the Beef stories. The difference in pledged delegates between Clinton and Obama is only 142 delegates -- that''s hardly grounds for declaring Obama a winner which is what the media has done. Seems to me this is a free country and Texas, PA, VT, RI, OH are all part of that country. So let the voters vote and understand how to vote. Clinton and Obama are stuck with a system of voting that they did not create. So democrats out there, how about Clinton-Obama which would really scare the Republicans because it would offer 8 years of Hillary followed by 8 years of Barak which adds up to 16 years of Democratic rule.
