Speeches vs. Solutions

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

LORDSTOWN, OH – Slamming Barack Obama during a campaign stop at a General Motors plant, Hillary Clinton claimed the foundation of his candidacy is built on speeches, not results. "That's the difference between me and my opponent," Clinton said, "I offer solutions. It's one thing to get people excited, I want to empower you to live your dreams so we can all go forward together."

Clinton added, "Now, over the years, you've heard plenty of promises from plenty of people in plenty of speeches. And some of those speeches were probably pretty good. But speeches don't put food on the table. Speeches don't fill up your tank, or fill your prescription or do anything about that stack of bills that keeps you up at night."

Senator Clinton's new stump speech was a one-size-fits-all bag of attacks on Senator Obama. She talked about his dealings with a nuclear lobbying company, his health care plan, and his economic stimulus ideas. Clinton said she was "glad" to see that Obama unveiled an economic plan yesterday, but the former First Lady said it was eerily reminiscent of her economic plan. "I was, however, glad to see that yesterday, my opponent adopted the goal of five million green collar jobs – months after I announced I would create five million green collar jobs…Now, if only he would just copy my health care plan and provide coverage for every single American!" Clinton said to loud applause.

She continues to hammer away on the point that she is the candidate who can bring solutions saying it's a choice between "speeches versus solutions, talk versus action."

Clinton, who stood at the center of the plant as cars on conveyer belts whizzed by overhead, said that she measures her life on progress, "not by applause or headlines – but by whether I am helping people."

I''ve heard all kinds of stories about how much more money Obama has managed to get verses how little Hillary has gotten. I couldn''t help but wonder who these people are?? sure can''t be the middle class or the familys who are struggling to keep food on their tables, so who''s left? must be the ones who aren''t hurting financially. Makes one wonder just who''s backing who??? All kinds of thoughts run through my mind when I hear why we should vote for this one or that one but remember what happened with Gore/Bush? I have always beleived that Gore won that election inspite of what the polls stated and I also beleive he would have made a much better leader but thats water under the bridge now. WE can use our heads now for more than just a hat rack. The young people will have to live with their decision so they better be very careful what they ask for and hopefully they will vote with their brains and not completely with their hearts. Ask yourself if you were hireing some one would you want the experienced running you business?? Its food for thought.

Let me try to sort this out... Hilary, Obama and McCain are still running for the nomination for their parties. I am confused when I read about any of the candidate claiming they provide results and actions. What kind of result and actions can a candidate provide? They are simply making speeches and promises about what they may do if they get elected to the White House. Obama is making promises, so are Hilary and McCaine. Before Hilary can claim her promises to be actions and results, she had to get elected first. Before then her "solutions, actions and results" are no better then Obama''s or McCaine''s "empty promises".

Is this supposed to be news reporting? It sounds a lot more like a press release, but no worries, it really doesn''t matter how many connections Hillary has inside, this primary and election will be decided by the people...finally!

Isn''t the media supposed to be somewhat objective? Aren%u2019t we (the public) supposed to make up our minds by ourselves as to who is the best candidate? Aren%u2019t we supposed to hear all positive and negative allegations/news on each candidate%u2026.They throw trash at every other candidate while painting Obama as a saint.
BTW I found some awesome analysis on the Democratic Campaign check out %u201CBeating a Dead Donkey%u201D and %u201CThe Negative Factor%u201D on http://www.savagepolitics.com
