It's Economy Day in Wisconsin for Obama

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

WAUKESHA, WISC. -- In the past couple of days, Barack Obama's campaign has maintained that he performs better in states where voters get to know him. That was clearly Obama's approach in Wisconsin today, where he addressed United Auto Workers members at a General Motors plant in Janesville and suburban voters in Waukesha.

He told the UAW workers that he wants to talk to them about the economy "from the heart." Obama described the U.S. economy as being on the brink of a recession, blaming it largely on the housing crisis and the "failure of the leadership and imagination in Washington."

"At a time like this, it's no wonder that the mortgage crisis was the straw that broke the camel's back," Obama said.

Obama repeatedly mentioned Hillary Clinton during his speech, frequently using her name during criticisms of George Bush and John McCain. Obama used phrases such as, "politicians like John McCain and Hillary Clinton voted for a war in Iraq that should've never been authorized" or "neither George Bush nor Hillary Clinton had that kind of immediate, broad-based relief in their original stimulus proposals."

Obama's most glaring criticism of Clinton was on NAFTA, an issue that he says she has shifted positions on.

"You know, in the years after her husband signed NAFTA, Senator Clinton would go around talking about how great it was and how many benefits it would bring," Obama said, "Now that she's running for President, she says we need a timeout on trade. No one knows when this timeout will end. Maybe after the election."

In Waukesha, located in a predominantly Republican area, Obama went after John McCain's economic policy and foreign policy.

"If you want the same as we've had the last seven years, then I think John McCain is going to be a great choice. But if you think that we need something new, if you think that we need to restore fairness to our economy, if you think that we need a smarter foreign policy, then I hope that you will stand with me and vote for me," Obama said.

Meantime, Obama received the endorsement of David Wilhelm, President Bill Clinton's campaign manager in 1992. Wilhelm, who will be involved in the Ohio campaign, said "Ohio could be the state that propels him to the nomination."

Also, Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe, told reporters this morning that he believes Hillary Clinton will not be able to catch up to Obama's pledged delegate lead. He said Clinton would have to "win big" in Ohio and Texas in order to close the delegate gap.

Obama has extensive concrete policies articulated on his web-site. The writers who complain that Obama is just mere rhetoric has swallowed the Clinton negative attacks. Obama was summa *** laude at Harvard Law School, was elected editor of the Harvard Law Review, and has taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago. As Oprah notes, he is not running as a black man but as a BRILLIANT candidate. He has more between his ears than any of his critics have in their entire body. It is ironic that those who accuse him of having only "the gift of the gab" completely ignore his track record of brilliant achievements. These same critics continue to support Pres. Bush who can barely string a rational sentence together, and they support Hillary who can spout pages of details but has displayed only ruthless ambition and poltical expediency and no judgment or ethical sense in her votes for the war in Iraq, in her support of Bush in preparation of hostilities against Iran, in her failed marriage, and in the way in which she has run her negative campaign.

Barack is so inexperienced, that with his gift for gab he reminds me of that other guy who came out of nowhere thinking he could win the White House. What was his name? Oh, yeah--Abraham Lincoln!

The nation is already sunk. What George Bush didn''t know is what knocked the bottom out of the boat, and McCain believes another 100 years of the same foreign policy would be a healthy thing for us. Vote how you like.

We are witnessing a movement. Not a campaign, not an election. Barack Obama is the catalyst for an America that returns to the ideals that created it.
Hillary Clinton and John McCain are fine Americans and have plenty to contribute to the future of this country.
Barack Obama is an uncommon leader for an uncommon time. We are on our heels, still reeling from terrible decisions made by the current administration. Our national security is dependent on the world community and the world community is pretty disgusted with us. We cannot under estimate the determination of radical Jihadists to inflict as much damage as they can. We need the cooperation of the world community to be truly effective. Barack Obama will restore America to the country it was meant to be. He is a uniter, a communicator, and an inspiration. He has electrified the common people of all backgrounds and given us a reason to believe again .

Did this 2005 bankruptcy law cause the housing crisis ??? Now with all this housing debt causing so much economic volatility , and great burden being spread out upon the Tax payers , was this the best was to go , or did it actually cause the problem , by emboldening the Lenders to be more brazen in their lending practices , and the government not having proper regulation in place to influence predatory lending practices , lead to all this extra debt , that now the Taxpayer is going to have to pay for ?? . Barack Obama voted NO on this law , and shows that he made the right decision , and if President would have vetoed it and saved us all allot of grief .
The senator of New York should have voted up or down , but did not vote , so is this pandering , being able to say Hillary didn''t support it so her position would not be against the Banks and other Financial Institutes she was getting funding from ??

the Clinton Experience they claim to be good for America , was this Trade Agreement Good for America ????????? Shouldn''t the Clinton Administration and Bush Administration amended the WTO Trade agreements to at least provide a fee for the SS and Medicare programs on imported products to make up for the lost job deducts that were lost due to the jobs going over to china and India , that would have only been fair ???? We American want Fair Trade Agreements , not Lopsided Lobbyist influenced agreements that only help the Wal marts of the multi-Nationals , and they don''t trickle enough down too even perk up a my pet parakeet , you know what I mean ??? Barack you are right , Enough is Enough , we need fair trade . February 16, 2000 Issue Brief #137 http://www.epi.org/content.cfm/issuebriefs_ib137

If Clinton can''t make it in I''ll be forced to vote republican as much as it kills me.

But Obama is too green behind the ears, and what he doesn''t know could sink us as a nation.
