Clinton and Obama on the Day After

ARLINGTON, VA. -- Hillary Clinton told reporters at a press conference at her headquarters on Wednesday that she loaned her campaign $5 million at the end of January to help bridge the gap between the $13 million she raised last month and the $32 million Barack Obama raised.

Clinton said she loaned the money because her "opponent was able to raise more money." Clinton did not regret the cash advance pointing out that her showing on Super Tuesday "proved the wisdom of my investment." When asked where she obtained the money Clinton said it was her own.

Just one day after an inconclusive Super Tuesday, Clinton said, "Now we're getting geared up ... on to Wisconsin, Texas, Ohio, and Rhode Island."

"I am on the path to win the nomination. The results last night showed clearly that we're ahead. We're in this as I said in the beginning, to win it," she said.

Earlier in Chicago, an upbeat and jovial Obama said that he is less of an underdog after Super Tuesday.

"Two weeks ago we were a big underdog," Obama said, "Now we are a slight underdog."

Obama described Clinton as a "formidable opponent" adding, "She's got a political machine honed over two decades so from my perspective this makes her the front runner in every contest but what we have found is that there is a real thirst for change in this country and as I get better known we have been able to compete everywhere," Obama said.

by Gary Kempf February 7, 2008 4:39 PM EST: Reading these comments,I have no doubts how we got here. Instead singing praise for these people because of race,gender,or being a republican, we should be asking ourselves why have they not done anything as current members of the senate to stop bush???
The only one that is clear about where they stand is McCain, He will continue the policies of Bush, with a McCain twist. He has made it clear that he could care less about the average working class American with his pro corporate policies.
Both Mr. Obama and Mrs.Clinton Senate records are not good, I don''''t care what color they are, I don''''t care what gender they are.... I want answers, Why as current members of the Senate have you not taken a lead to block what is happening???

They claim to have solutions, If so, why haven''''t they been promoting them as members of the Senate????

They have shown excellant abilities to make pretty speeches as they cross the country, I have yet to see any prove. America is divided,our econony is in the toilet,Our troops are dying because Bush has no idea of what to do.
Our jobs have gone overseas...
Our borders or a open to illegal immigrants...
American families are struggling make end meet...
The news media seems to lack any honor....
Its time these people step up and answer some serious questions....Its time that Americans demand answers before any of them get elected....
These answers are the issue, not color,not gender

by andersenme February 7, 2008 3:28 AM EST: The news about Hillary Clinton donating $5 million of her own money to her presidential bid struck me as odd.

How was it that someone of once modest means who claimed to have worked selflessly for 35 years ("fighting for YOU!") in the notoriously badly-paid public interest sector had become so wealthy?

Sure there''s been some financial scandals.

And as the late Sen. Everett Dirksen used to say, "A million here, a million there" it adds up to real money."

But why focus on the negative?

Then, suddenly, a tune entered my head and I thought, maybe if I offered a tailored version of it to the Clinton campaign, they''d use it to replace that awful Celine Dion song that used to be Hillary''s campaign anthem.

And maybe they''d give me some of that moolah.

I promise I wouldn''t ask what account at Clintons, Inc. it came from, or which lobbyist forked it over.

Anyway, remember that girls" song, "It"s My Party," written by Wally Gold, John Gluck and Herb Weiner and recorded by Lesley Gore?

Well how about this version for HRC?
