Huckabee Compares Himself to the New York Giants

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. -- In his first rally following the Super Bowl, Mike Huckabee compared his underdog status to that of the New York Giants before their upset victory over the New England Patriots.

In a nasal tone of superiority, Huckabee imitated the naysayers who said the Pats were already the Super Bowl champs. But then, Huckabee said, "the New York Giants showed up and decided the game wasn't over until they decided it was over."

A reporter asked him which candidate he thinks is comparable to the Patriots.

"Well, I'm going to let you do the interpretation on that," Huckabee said with a smile.

A Dallas Cowboys fan, Huckabee has repeatedly said he didn't really care for this year's Super Bowl. When the game began yesterday, he spoke at the ordination of two young pastors in Memphis.

"It's a team from New York and a team from Boston," Huckabee told the congregation. "What do we care?"

But if he had to choose, Huckabee said would root for the underdog Giants -- a pick he shared with reporters before the when they pressed him for an answer.

Huckabee showed little interest in the final hour of the game that he was able to catch after church. As staffers and reporters watched the game enthusiastically, Huckabee checked his BlackBerry and walked to the business center to look through his emails.

But he returned for the final minutes and chuckled when one reporter threw his fist in the air when the game ended.

Campaign chair Ed Rollins said happily, "The underdogs won." He walked away to board the waiting plane.

"Yeah, the underdogs won," Huckabee said softly to himself, his eyes briefly fixed on the television before turning around to go.

*** ALERT ****

Tony Perkins and James Dobson of FRC (Family Research Council) value voters guide that I just received today clearly shows they are supporting Mike Huckabee for President.

Out of all the questions they asked of Republicans and Democrates, Mike Huckabee scored 100% in all questions.

It also shows that Mitt Romney''s liberal positions are still showing through him in the questioning.

It says Mitt Romney supports human cloning and embryo destruction. Plus it says Mitt Romney would vote for passage to water down the Federal Marriage act of 1996.

Plus it says Mitt Romney will vote to allow passage of law that allows the Government to take away private land of it''s citizens whenever it wants to.

Do Republicans want a liberal like Mitt Romney running our party or a true conservative like Mike Huckabee running our party?

It''s clear that Tony Perkins and Dr. James Dobson are supporting conservative Mike Huckabee in the value votes results I just received today.

If you are a conservative who has admired what Tony Perkins and Dr. James Dobson has down for the nation, please go vote tomorrow for Mike Huckabee who they are clearly showing they are supporting.

We waved signs outside of the superbowl yesterday in Avondale for Huckabee. The only people waving signs were Huckabee and Ron Paul supports.

Those are the only 2 candidates loved by the people. Everyone else votes because of the flood of money the others spent on advertising.

Huckabee is the underdog but still polling even with Romney, and at this point being out-spent at one could guess is 100 to 1.

Is it not obvious that people who actually follow the race pick Huckabee?

This is about delegates, get out there and vote for this awesome man running for President.

Vote for Huckabee!

Conservatives support Mitt Romney. Huckabee want''s to be McCain''s VP... how conservative is that? McCain is running on the promise to once again "reach across the isle". Wow, what a surprise! Do Republicans really want someone who will cave in to Democrats and abandon conservatives for the nth time? That''s John McCain all over. Just ask his preferred running mate... John Kerry.

Mitt Romney is the only conservative choice for President.

If Mike Huckabee is the defintion of a "conservative", then I guess I must be a liberal. So, yep, guess I will go ahead and cast my vote for Mitt Romney!! Thanks for helping me make that decision.

Gov. Mike Huckabee is the true conservative.

Mitt Romney''s record would make Hillary Clinton proud. Romney, based on his record is very liberal. If you are a liberal, vote for Romney. If your conservative, Romney should be the last person you vote for.
