Huckabee Says President Should Have Sense of Humor

SPRINGFIELD, MO. -- Mike Huckabee joked Mitt Romney didn't hit "political puberty" until he was 60. Romney heard that and said Huckabee is always "good for a good chuckle" but "the presidency's more serious than that comment suggests."

Huckabee's response to reporters: "[Romney] would have never have liked Ronald Reagan 'cause Ronald Reagan had a great sense of humor and he used it to bring a sense of levity to the seriousness of the job."

"And that's another reason why Mike Huckabee ought to be the nominee. Because if people are looking for somebody in the mold of a true leader, they want somebody who takes God seriously but doesn't take themselves so seriously. That's what a sense of humor does. And maybe that's an affirmation: Mitt Romney said a few years ago that he wasn't part of that Reagan-Bush thing. I guess that means he didn't care a whole lot about Ronald Reagan's humor or his policies, either one."

Also, if he was really in this to win, he''d be going after McCain, the front runner. He''s in this to take Romney down for McCain and it is a disgrace. The serving 2 masters doesn''t even come close to the meaning you are trying to give it. If you really care about our country more than you hate Christians then go to Mike''s web site and honestly look at his stance on issues then come to an informative conclusion, not a decision based on bigotry or uninformed emotion. By the way you just described Mike Huckabee when you listed the things you want in a president. I don''t mean to sound too harsh but the misinformation just drives me crazy when this is such an important decision for our country.; Reply to this comment

by mjashley February 2, 2008 1:43 PM EST: I spent a lot of time researching Mike Huckabee before supporting him and I have to say the more I know about him, the more impressed I am.

He is the only person running who can lift this country up. When he was Governor of Arkansas his state took in many Hurricane Katrina victims and he made sure they were all treated with dignity and respect. He told the volunteers to make sure they didn''t get caught up in paperwork...that it was important to treat each person as a human being of value.

Contrast the above with this video of Mitt Romney talking to a man in a wheelchair with Muscular Dystrophy. He asks Romney about medical marijuana. Romney is so cold to this poor man---he completely discounts him.

Mitt Romney makes my blood turn cold. There is something so sinister and wicked about him. If, God forbid he is the nominee, I will not vote for him no matter what.; Reply to this comment

Nancy, with all due respect, our constitution and our laws are based on the Bible and Judeo Christian values. The fact that a President is a true Christian like Mike Huckabee means he has a real moral compass and convictions. This is why Reagan was a good President and why Abraham Lincoln was a good President. We have to have a moral man of conviction in the presidency or we are in big trouble.

Let me ask you this? Would you rather have a man in office who is humble, believes in God and has high standards or a man like Mitt Romney whose Mormon religion teaches that he himself is becoming a god. Mitt Romney took an oath as a Mormon to uphold Mormon beliefs over anything else--his allegiance is to the Mormon church over the constitution. If you don''t believe me, look it up.

No wonder he has no convictions, he believes that lying to become President is ok, deception is ok. He is exactly what is wrong with our country---people who believe the ends always justify the means.

He is a man of the people and has had personal experiences (first a pastor and then a top 5 governor)dealing with people of all ages; all races; all genders and all creeds. He is the ONLY one with this rich experience that makes him the man he is..compassionate and attune to all. WE NEED MIKE! He also happens to be the most gifted candidate on either side of the race as demonstrated once again in the latest debate. by davide73-2009 February 2, 2008 12:08 PM EST: Mitt Romney is the favorite of the rich corporations. If he were to become President, however, he would have no clue about how to govern. Massachusetts was 47th nationally during his one unsuccessful term as governor there.

Mike Huckabee was voted one of the 5 best governors in America and is beloved by the people of his state. He has great ideas about what America needs, starting with the replacement of the Internal Revenue Service with a consumption tax.

He is in the same position Abe Lincoln was during the election of 1860. America was in trouble, and nobody thought he could win because he was not favored by the establishment. This time the problem is not the south, however, it is that power and wealth are too concentrated in the hands of the few. Huckabee comes from the people and identifies with them, just as Lincoln did. I believe that he can have the same historic effect on this country if the people will rise up and help him.
