McCain Reacts to Giuliani Jabs

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- John McCain joked with reporters today when he was asked about actor Chuck Norris' recent comments about his age. Norris, a Mike Huckabee supporter, suggested that McCain was too old to be president and wouldn't be able to handle the pressure after his first term.

McCain sighed heavily after a reporter asked the question, then said, "I'm afraid that I may have to send my 95-year-old mother over and wash Chuck's mouth out with soap."

McCain and his camp also responded to a recent swipe by Rudy Giuliani who said that McCain is not fiscally conservative.

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers reacted saying in a written statement: "John McCain has a long record of fighting for tax cuts and controlling spending. In contrast, Rudy Giuliani has a record of opposing tax relief. He actually endorsed liberal Democrat Mario Cuomo for governor because he opposed George Pataki's tax cut plans, which Giuliani said at the time were too large. He also left Mayor Bloomberg with a fiscal mess, including a budget deficit of over $2 billion. That's not fiscal responsibility."

McCain added, "My record speaks for itself... Every conservative economic organization has given me the highest marks because of being an economic conservative."

"All I can say is I respect Mayor Giuliani. We've won primaries, one of the reporters was mentioning, we are now running 10 – 15 points ahead of him in his home state. So I understand. I understand politics."

I''m from Arizona and we can''t stand him. We are trying to recall him since he is no good as a senator. please america - google "the real mccain" and check out the website before you cast a vote for him.
McCain is a great patriot but doesn''t understand the economy.

by johnjacobs99 January 22, 2008 1:31 AM EST: McCain may be a leader, but even he admits economics is not his thing. When it comes to war, we all agree he has experience. However, the US has been involved in two wars and our economy is tanking. Countries like China are growing in strength, Russia is rebounding. The Dollar is dropping and our deficit is growing. Oil prices are increasing, health care costs are soaring, inflation is becoming a problem and illegal immigration is taking a toll on some states.
What the US needs right now is someone who is a whiz at economics. Mitt Romney has demonstrated time and time again that he can turn companies around, the Olympics around and state deficits around.; Reply to this comment


by advocate101 January 22, 2008 1:18 AM EST: Anyone that has lived what McCain has endured in his life will have no trouble with the pressures of the job. Oh yes- the POW experience clearly made him a stronger person as well. But this man knew how to be a leader long before his time. What 26 year old that could have left his captors and tormentors behind him would chose to stay just to prevent the enemy from using his leaving against those other soldiers/servicemen left behind...Now that was a leadership decision and he suffered horribly for that decision at the hands of his captors. Maybe someone in the Giuliani and Huckabee camps is getting a bit nervous... People like John McCain from both sides of the isle and he has the potential to be that cross over candidate...
